Dear Folks,

I am ripping the Blurays with MakeMKV tool. The issue is that inspite of selecting DTS MA checkbox, I am not getting the DTS MA track. However, if I choose only the DTS Core checkbox (and not DTS MA), I am getting DTS core with a1536 kbps bit rate.

For those who recommend dtsdecoder.dll , its not required, because I am not re-encoding dts hd MA to (say) FLAC etc.

My laptop is Lenovo-T430 with Realtech HD sound card & Bluray Ripper is Samsung external drive (supports 3D too), connected to my laptop via provided usb cable.

Extra Info :: Handbrake is also not populating DTS HD MA track, while others are displayed in the dropdown.

Do you foresee an issue with Windows 7 codec? Shall I update them ?

Any ideas ?

Regards
Slash

I use DVDfab for ripping. It gives you option to select the audio you need.I select both (DTSMA and Dts). When I play it,I can select any of it.Make sure your SW has that option.
How do you play Blura rips?HTPC? then see if you have option to select Audio.

Use Audio Muxer software from surroundbyus people a very powerful little tool.

i think i got the software in my laptop i ll upload to dropbox and throw a link here if u r interested.

I am copying the ripped files into WD Passport (1 TB) HDD, connect it (via USB 3.0 cable)to my Philips BDP-2600....and then play from BDP which is connected to my AVR. I am facing another issue..some movies are getting freezed...and I have to re-start entire AV system again.

Have I made a mistake by spending 6.5 K on a bluray writer ? :(

Also would like to mention that my BDP has a USB 2.0 port. so even if my HDD has USB 3.0, I would still go as fast as USB 2.0 only.

It can be an issue of BDp.Why dont you try playing movie from Laptop if it can pass-through HD audio? Also check if the file has both audio tracks, then you need to select HD one.

Playing from laptop may be my last option due to some reasons.
However, the good news is that I am able to play two titles :

1. Michael Jackson Moonwalker (1080p / DTS core, 1536 kbps)
2. The Dark Knight Rises (1080p / DTS core, 1536 kbps)

without any freeze / glitch :)..
Another test with "AC-DC" true HD (14.57 Mbps), failed...mkv player "Freemkv" & my BDP are not playing it...however, Freemkv tool has confirmed the bitrate as 14.57 Mbps..its obvious that MakeMKV is encoding TrueHD....I am trying to somehow play it... I'll keep you posted ..

Used DVD-Fab, ripped audio into mkv, settings same as source, no DTS MA still.
Surprise, unlike earlier rip of same movie I am getting PCM stereo (while BDp option displays DTS) and AVR displays & plays stereo / Direct. Also my software MakeMKV & Free MKV display the same file audio as 1536 kbps (core)...what the hell !!

I think no one can ever get DTS HD / True HD from a HDD connected to any player (wat so ever) because USB 2.0 cant handle DTS MA or True HD.

May be this player.I have Toshiba BDp with updated region free FW.I connect USB3.0, 1 TB HDD regularly and its USB 2.0 can read DTSMA easily.
Check if FW upgrade on your BDp can do it.I thing with default FW,Toshiba was unable decode DTSMA via USB.

The FW is updated already. Here is the media info:

Okey, I burned the mkv files to a DVD, just 4 files of 3.95 GB. I discovered the my bluray (which plays all blu-rays w/ True HD or DTS MA perfectly), still plays plane DTS core and not DTS MA. Something is wrong with MakeMKV now.
