Urgent help required rotel or quad or naim?

Hi all,

I need reviews for rotel and quad amplifier.Could there be an impact on quality if these high end amps are made in china?
Soon I am going to purchase one and do not know about the quality of these . Earlier I had woodstock aw-602 amplifier.
I have selected ROTEL and QUAD elite qsp.I am more interested in quad because of the dealer's suggestion.
IS naim nait 5i a better option?
I am in touch with BASS & TREBLE GURGAON.
currently have woodstock speakers (300watt peak power, i think 80 watt rms) & will upgrade later on.

ANY MORE SUGGESTIONS ARE WELCOME.
Budget is approx 1lakh.

i think you should audition before you buy. pairing of a system is very important. the rotel is especially a very finicky amp and doesnt pair too well with a lot of speakers. in saying that it pairs extremely well with others. if you audition you will be able to answer your question yourself

Thank you rfj,

Atleast somebody replied.

Here I am highly confused because I want sound quality + reliability for years.
I am confused between Rotel , naim audio , quad and Belles.
I talked to Bass and treble Gurgaon and person Danny suggested me to go for Either Quad OR Belles 150a or Sociolist1 amplifier as they are completely handcrafted in USA by a asingle person Mr. David Belles.
Afterall this a aquestion of hard earned money.
Very soon I am going to get the audition of Quad and Belles in Gurgaon.

Actually all these are very good brands . The only problem is except Naim audio and Belles , everything else is made in China.
Couple of years ago I had seen amp of Denon in my office and that was made in Japan.

Whem I am spending a ahuge amount (1 lakh +),then why not to go for USA OR british made stuff.

Please provide your opinion.

Thanks a alot for your reply again.

With due respects to your purchase decision and your speakers, I'm confused as to why someone would buy a one lakh rupees worth amp to drive speakers like 'Wood Stock' which can at best (AFAIK) be categorised as 'mid fi' if I may use that term.

One lakh would get you a decent amp of 'hifi' category. If your intention is to build a hifi chain brick by brick, I suggest that you first buy a good speaker that suits your room and musical tastes.

My two cents.

Thank you Capt Rajesh,

Actually woodstock was the first amp of my life and I was very satisfied with the quality and reliability of that product.
That was made due to the passion for somebody(owner of woodstock). woodstock was never made for mass market , this is the reason they never advertised their product just for the money money making.

Now due to some reason my woodstock is failed to work and this time I wish to get the amp better than my woodstock.
I need reliability + sound .

Actually I do not have trust on mass market ordinary products. This is the biggest reason of my above mentioned purchase.

I know that an amp costing 5000 rs can easily drive my speakers. but I do not wish to go to the service centres again and again.

I wish to purchase a asound system for long years . If you have time please t a look of the belles Sloist 1 amplifier and reference 150a power amplifier. You will come to know the reason behind my purchase.

Even if I do not go for an amplifier costing 1 lakh + to me, I would like to go for an order made amplifier here in india which should have HIGH QUALITY COMPONENTS INSIDE.

HIGH GRADE COMPONENETS ARE MY PRIME MOTIVE TO GET. If these I can get here in India by any indian manufacturer I could go for that, however I am sorry to say I do not think that an amplifier with high grade componenets can come in low cost atleast here in India where everybody is running after money.

Matter is not about very high powered amp. My matter is quality. Quality of the amplifier , the best I can get in my reach.

Please read some about belles amplifier OR Naim nait 5i amplifier

Very thankful for your reply

regards

as the capt has said, your system is only as good as your weakest link. youre not going to get max sound quality if you dont have good speakers.

a. if you are planning to keep your woodstock speakers, then audition the amp with it. naim is def a cut above the likes of rotel and generally would pair well with most speakers. but again pl audition before dropping that sort of money on an amp

b. if youre planning to change speakers at a later date then have a master plan of what speakers that you want to buy and audition the set up now and buy according to that plan.

the best advice we can give you is plan and audition and match your setup

There are several niche players in India. A list (that I can recollect) is given below: -

1. Norge - Mumbai
2. Sonodyne - Kolkatta
3. Torin - Chennai
4. Craftel - Chennai
5. Acoustic Portrait aka Corrson - Bangalore
6. Lyrita Audio - Delhi
7. Audire - Coimbatore
8. Rhythm - Cochin
9. Cadence - Pune
