Hi,

I dont have a TV/Projector. I want to see video output from my Yamaha RX V371 on my desktop or Laptop screen. What cords and connections do i need.

not clear
what will be the player?
if your avr is capable of osd in hdmi
connect your desktop monitor...lap not possible unless some heavy diy..from avr hdmi out..if your desktop monitor do have hdmi in..
chancess are less here..also//

btw what is your objective

AVR out can be connected to the desktop display only if it has HDMI or DVI input. If the display has only VGA input then connection is not possible unless you buy some expensive hdmi to vga converters. I am not sure if these converters will work at all.

It is not possible to use laptop display for avr out.

Desktops/Laptops do not have video inputs. They usually have only video outputs (VGA/DVI/HDMI).

You can connect a capture card to get video input capability. What type of capture card you need will depend on the output interface (TV out, Component Video out or HDMI out)

Thanks all for your responses.

i realize that i may not be able to get video output from AVR to Laptop easily.

I was sold a HDMI to VGA cord which is useless.
