I just got my pana V20 and hooked it to my 9600gt through a VGA cable.

Is VGA cable capable of transmiting HD / Full HD signal?

I am facing issues with setting my resolution as fulll hd on nvidia panel. Can this be due to the VGA cable?

I have connected my PC to a full HD TV though the VGA cable.
WinXP shows the resolution to be 19201080.
PC has an onboard graphics and sound.
A separate audio cable for sound is needed.

VGA, Component,DVI and HDMI supports full HD and it is a matter of how it is implemented in a particular display unit.

VGA and Component are analog , DVI and HDMI are digital.

HDMI and DVI share the same technology in pic transmission with HDMI carrying audio signals in addition.

dichkaun.. if u can verify that if its an blue vga connector or a white 24 pin dvi connector..
coz for vga ideallt not possiblle to go beyond semi-hd resolution..

Which means that your graphics card does not allow resolutions above that using the VGA interface.

There are old CRT monitors which support double the resolution of HD and still only use VGA interface.

MAX resolution for a VGA connector

DVI is just the digital version of VGA and HDMI carries the additional audio signal.

Thanks. But its also mentioned in the links that the DVI sends clearer signal.

COuld the VGA cable be responsible for me experiencing too much noise ( dithering and green pixels) on my plasma?

vga is capable of full hd. Your computer's graphics card need to support full hd resolution.
Often it is the drivers which will restrict the resolution. So try to update the drivers if possible.

got a hdmi cable.

connected the tv to my card through a male dvi to female hdmi converter.

now i can set the native resolution (full hd).

But still experiencing problme with dithering and green pixels.

Again this depends upon how the interfaces are implemented in ur display unit or graphics card, the problem your facing may or may not be related to the VGA interface.

I have a Dell Ultra-sharp 24" LCD monitor and i like VGA in that better than DVI cause i feel DVI shows color banding in that particular monitor.

Try HDMI and DVI , play around with the nvidia control panel like a member suggested and also Google for the best version of driver for picture quality and install it.

You can get full 1080HD signal through 15 Pin Dsub (VGA) Connection but it will be
1080i not 1080p.
I have connected my Blu Ray Player from Y Pb Pr to VGA of Projector and I got 1080i signal.
Its analog but it can be home made since RCA and VGA Connectors are available in the market.
Use a CAT5e Cable for the job or get a good quality 3 pair cable to transmit the RGB Signal.
It works !!

^ You can also transmit 1080p or any resolution with progressive scan using VGA unless the display unit you have does not support it.

Since VGA is analogue using longer length of cable it will have noise.

Well,Ideally DVI is better than VGA as its a true digital signal without any conversion.
I use DVI to HDMI out from 7600GS to philips 5609.
You can check if the colour in setting is 32bit(somtime automatically get set to 16bit).

i have connected my Lenevo 30Q to my Pana C10D via VGA(blue) cable and have seen some 720P and 1080P movies, PQ is better but i have to compromise with 5.1 sound as my HT only have analouge input. but its better till i get a HD media or BRD player

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
