Hey All,

I wonder if anyone has seen the ad for this Blu Ray player in the latest issue of What HiFi. Would like to get some background information on this one.

Seems like a pretty good deal for 30K.

Any info anyone - views - reviews whatever..

30K is too much for region free BD player / May be oppo will fit the shelf with that 30K.

Another option for region free Blu Ray player as well as a media player is HD Dune which is avaliable for 36K with Bill and Warranty.

I have seen ads for HD Dune but they never mentioned it as region free. Are you sure?

Dont know about this player, but the Dune BD Prime 3.0, mentioned in one of the replies is not just a BluRay player but a complete media player. Not only is it Bluray and DVD region free, it can play almost any audio and video format that you throw at it (incl MKV. H264 etc). Plus you can play Youtube etc videos (through Wi-Fi) on the fly. It too can have an inbuilt hard disc.

This Viewlab also looks similiar, but unfortunately there is no website for this player

Paying anything over 10 or 15 thousand for a Blu-Ray player does not make any sense to me any more. After my recent experience, with a Radeon 5450 processor you can easily assemble a HTPC with a Blu-Ray drive for between 30K to 40K, and that will provide features none of the Blu-Ray players can. Even an entry level motherboard, processor and the Radeon 5450 will beat the hell out of any Blu-Ray player. And you have a full media player and storage and recording capabilities, as well connection to the Net. All the features that Blu-Ray player manufacturers mention with bated breath are standard features in a HTPC.

Cheers

You are right Venkat, but this seems all in one mini solution for those who dont have OR want to go for HTPC.
A good HTPC may cost same OR little more too.
This one is handy & can be carried easily like other MP.
1 GB ram,sigma 8643 chip, 2TB internal HDD support, Lan, Wifi,win7 compatability.

Hi Venkat,

Looks like you have built your own HTPC?? If so can you give us a writeup like you have done earlier. It would be of great help to forum members like me who would want to venture in to HTPC & HD world :).

Thanks, Senthil.

I am building it. I will, hopefully, have it working fully in a day or two. I shall certainly write a detailed report.

Cheers
