Fellow member,
cough between deciding Voltage Stabilizer or UPS.
budget is 2.5K -/+

panning to hook 3 things, 50" TV, BDP & Tata Sky HD. and if possible a gaming console too.
There is no fluctuation / power-cut in my building but the bulbs do burn in late night, so voltage in night is higher hence don't i don't want to take any risk.

So, i wil be gald if someone help me calculating the power/ amp requirement...
how to calculate required ampere, VA , etc

i found a similar thread:- http://www.hifivision.com/audio-video-accessories/44652-ups-v-s-voltage-stabilizer.html without any concrete answer.

Thanks,

A stabilizer is enough since your place has no voltage fluctuations and power cuts. A UPS is useful if the power goes frequently. A 600VA UPS can handle roughly 400W of load.

thanks baijuxavior,
rarely power goes down for 10-30 seconds. plus i might be using USB hard-disk for movies, UPS will protect the disk. since the price difference is not that much im leaning towards UPS.
for that ups, its mentioned
Output Power Capacity: 360 Watts / 600 VA
so
  1. TS STB = 20 watts
  2. BDP = 30 watt
  3. 50" LED TV = 100 watt

so should be fine right ?
will there be any kind of electrical noise, etc issue if using UPS ?

or any other suggestion.

Thanks

I have used an ordinary 600VA UPS to power my TV, stb, dvd etc and has not faced any issues. A 600VA UPS will handle all your loads easily.

Thanks,

Note that unless you buy a line interactive UPS you will not get voltage regulation. A low end UPS at 2.5 k will not provide voltage regulation.

For calculating the Amp requirement = watts/230 / 0.8

Add 50% as factor of safety

Thanks Jagdish,
i have check the specs os the UPS model, seems to be line interactive.
