review after 2days of using: i played many 1080p movies on the 65" inch tv almost all movies' audio codec wasn't supported and the video quality was average .i'm not sure if there is any upscaling to 4k on the whole i'm dissappointed
also when you connect to the web it keeps showing security certificate untrusted it annoys me a lot
though it's an android tv i'm not able to install apk through usb/ pen drive...... dlna connectivity is a major issue
can't say it as a smart tv with so many issues
can be used to watch regular tv
will try connecting it to a HD set top box in some days and have a look at picture quality
switching on time is good for an android tv
overall it's almost worth it for the price you pay:sad::sad::sad:

Make a HTPC for your gaint...and try to download HD content and you will love the TV going forward. Smart TV are just tags to sell TV's ..IMO

I have the same TV and I concur with all the observations made by barath.

However, I am not using any "smart" features on the TV. I use chromecast and have a plex based media server. So chromecast takes care of all the "smart" part of TV viewing.

Picture quality is bad for content less than 720p. I watch TV from 24' and 720p and above looks okay. Full HD is good, but nothing spectacular.

My biggest issue is there is no dedicated button on the remote to easily select a source.

Well, I also think I got what I paid for and this is my secondary system. I have even taken the 2 yrs extended warranty. An android Sony with similar specs is close to 4L :).

I am also not very happy with performance of fast paced sports, mainly football. Even with HD signals.

I guess your experience with Full HD content on this TV is not spectacular because I think 65" should have better resolution, 1080p/i is too less for a screen size as big as 65". (Just my opinion though). I have never seen a 65" TV, so asking you, how does this compare to 65" from other brands?

Also, wrt fast paced sports, does your TV have the MEMC option to select the off/weak/strong option ?

I have the Samsung Plasma 64f8500 and I think it retails at almost the same price as the 65 inch Vu TV . Why would one go for a VU tv when its the same price . BUt the quality is miles apart . I havent seen a VU tv in person atleast the 65 incher and so I dont know what it looks like . BUt from the feedback am reading here , it sure sounds like a bad investment .

With respect to screen size vs content resolution, I have to say images do look spectacular on my dedicated HT room screen that is a 142" screen, fed from an Epson FHD projector. Projector is not even UHD/4K. Even 720p/1080i looks awesome on that.

TV has MEMC settings, but didn't help much.

These were my criteria to buy VU against Samsung Plasma

1. Biggest size for lowest price (1.26L vs 1.8L).
2. Lowest power consumption (150W vs 300W). This TV will have to run on inverter power and I wanted the lower power consuming set.
3. 2 Yr extended warranty for cheaper price (paid 14k for 2 yrs extended warranty).

I exactly knew the performance / picture quality of this TV. I bought it after seeing a demo and was fully aware of the short comings compared to Samsung / Sony. So I am not dissatisfied/unhappy as I knew what I was going to get :).

I am yet to find a big size LED/LCD TV that can beat the performance of a Plasma TV for both HD and SD contents.

I would have definitely gone with Samsung Plasma if this were my primary TV.
