request your guidance on this too.
Thanks

Hi Rajdeep !!!
You can go to New Gramophone House in Chandni Chowk. They have TT's, Catrs and a huge collection of vinyls also.

Thanks kumarnathan.
I was looking for somebody from the forum who is looking for upgrading there tt so that i will be able to get good device and advice.

Instead of new gramophone house go visit shah musicals last year i ask him for technics automatic turntable he said he have one in black with little crack mark on dust cover for ?12000. They surely must have more i guess. Shah musical meena bazaar.

Vintage Sony PS-6750 Turntable

No affiliation. But an excellent turntable. Should keep you happy for a very long time.

That's a highly priced item. Sony TTs were good in their on way but not as good as the Technics direct drives. The tonearms of Sony turntables were perhaps their greatest weakness. They were usually plagued with tracking errors and flimsy build quality (in some cases). Good to look at, but performance is something else

Agree on the high price. But if he can negotiate there, it's an excellent choice. :)
As for flimsy build quality; maybe you came across abused pieces? I would love to believe all that but my experience tells me otherwise. I have a technics SL1800 and a friend has a Technics SL1200. They are no doubt excellent TTs but the 1200/1800 feel like toys compared to the 6750 (that tonearm is actually amazing). Absolutely no tracking issues and sounds and feels as good (if not better) than the 1200 for about half the price! Now that's what I call price to performance ratio. There's so much bad press about Sony in India because of the experience people had with their mainstream cheap stuff. However keep it going: good for those in the know who can then lap up excellent gear for cheap :D ;)

:) agreed on this specific Sony but my intention was different. Obviously at that price point, our FM would have thought twice but the brand Sony and feedback on Sony would have registered. What happens in reality when a brand registers is that one would look for something from the same brand, at a lower price point. That's when the trouble would start with Sony but not necessarily with the Technics DDs with S-tonearms, preferably semi automatic or even better still, manual :)

This angle is also true from a seller's perspective. Just because one model from a brand became legendary, sellers drive up the price for other models from the same brand. For example. Garrard's best idlers were the 301 and the 401. Sellers list old Garrards as idlers and ask for high prices. Buyers, think Garrard and Idler and buy these :)

Here's an example of a "hi-end" Sony rig with equipment from back in the day:
