Dear Friends,
I am a new to the forum and would like to seek your advice on buying a 3D LED TV.
I am interested in buying a 40 or 42 inch 3D LED TV and have seen the new 2011 series launched by Samsung as well as LG. Personally i liked the Samsung UA40D6600WR model and LG's 42LW6500.

Please suggest and guide me on which one to choose, feel free to suggest any other model or make which is available in India.

Cheers,
Gaurav

Hi Gaurav,

The LW6500 series continues the Infinia look from last year with a single pane of glass that goes all the way to the edges of the TV and an impressively slim 1" depth. This is no dobut better model then their counterpart Samsung.. it beats the prices and features as well
Kudos
Raj

Got lucky today to spend some time with 46D6600 in a showroom. Changed from dynamic to movie mode, toned down the warmth, motion processing set to Clear. Everything looked pin-sharp, detailed and rich. Panel is a bit reflective but nothing bad. They did not have 3D glass for demo.

46" was quoted 1.19K. No 3D glasses bundled.
40" should be good too.

Could not demo the LG 6500.

In my opinion, passive 3D from LG Cinema 3D has an edge. But you should compare overal 2D picture quality because 2D is what you will watch more than 95% of the time.

Do not buy before getting a demo of the LG.

if u r looking for a cheaper 3D TV consider UA40D6000 from samsung. major differences compared to D6600 is lack of 2D to 3D conversion, 100Hz CMR and bezel size

One should not even think for converting 2D to 3D. I would rather watch 2D as 2D and 3D as 3D.

for those confused between Passive(LG) 3D & Active(SAMSUNG,SONY) 3D, here is some enlightment >> Active vs Passive 3D
Read everything... but trust your eyes and experience! :D

I am personally not too much sold on 3D. I may not buy a 3D TV ... at least not in the next five years. But I find the active 3D glasses rather cumbersome. Also passive 3D is viewable at more extreme angles. My 2 cents.

if 3d is b really acceptable to masses,..it should be finally spectacle free...wtf with active or passive...count technology in next 5-6 years when 3d is finally going glasses free viewed most naturally with ur own eyes...till then all is just at best a compromise...

currently for me 3d is a big hoopla....where r the sources.?.except some of the few 3d BR movies, it is at best to b taken as an occasional indulgence!

Sources are many. Most of the new releases are coming in 3D. I myself have over 25 3D movies. Was just watching Final Destination 5 trailer and that too coming in 3D. So I think 3D was hooolaaa when it was launched. Now its just 10k difference in 2D n 3D TV. And i think 10k is worth palying for TVs like LG Cinema 3D.

Now 50" 3D Plasma is just 70k. So what more?

ok,whatever suits u..but 3d is still not prime..except those with golden booty or those rampant leechers, but there that too u cant be too sure!...so in whatever few source,it is still far from mainstream yet....& 3d technology is still a compromise...whoever the best of these still lays in future & surely with new tv technologies being developed/in the pipeline, real 3d would be quite radically different from what we get today & Best of Everything!

yeah,d550 mghtb just abot 70-75k,but what about the passive 3d like lg cinema3d which some ppl r so much talking about?....did u just count how much difference in cost are the lg cinema 3d from their general lg led?..afaik,the dfference is more than 10k at minimum!

btw, i'm also focussed on the 51d550 as my next tv,...dont want 2 miss out on the 3d novelty alltogether! :p

Now can i know which 50" 3D Tv can u purchase legally in india for 70k ?.

Actually, its a 51 incher mate....the Samsung PS51D550 which has an MRP of 78k and going by Samsung's policy till last year, this should be easily available under 70k,maybe even down to 65k.
