Wants to buy Epson Projector on URGENT Basis

Hi Guys..

I want to buy Epson 2030 projector from US.. I have few queries..it will be grt if you people can help me out..

1. Can I buy the projector from Amazon.com(US).

2. The current price is $899, how much delivery charges I have to pay also is there any import duty which I have to pay..?

3. Or, should I ask someone available in US to buy it on my behalf and bring it to Delhi, in this scenario what are the chances of paying the import duty.

Also, what screen size would be good for this projector, throw distance will be around 10ft.

Its 829$ right now. With standard shipping to Calcutta and import fees deposit it comes to around 74k odd. 3k odd for shipping and 17 odd for duties. And no, I didnt get it from there. Just added to cart and saw the figure. So, give or take applies.

Its definately cheaper if someone can carry it for you. As for screen size, use the tool available on the Epson site or Projector Central.

$829 is for Epson HC 2000 not HC 2030.

Heard from FMs - If the box is unpacked, you will not get stuck at the customs. I am also planning to get it from the US next month.

Hi I recently bought Epson 2030, with Projector mount and samsung 3D glasses. I however had my friend brought it from US. It cost me 1091 USD with 91 as sales tax.

Assuming, the height of your room is 9' with the projector placed at 10', you would not go beyond max 110" screen. For all your epson projector calculation check the below link...

Hi Sam9s/FMs - can you please confirm if the projector can be carried in the cabin baggage or do I need to check-in with the rest of my baggage?

I would prefer to have it in check in baggage, but properly wrapped in bubble and placed well between cloths .....

Did the customs asked for any slips or receipts for the projector or did ur friend just walked from green channel..?

Anshu I see your perturbation, I presume this is the first time you are ordering something from US, and your curiosity is bringing the worst fear out of you, as I can see you posting frantically across all threads where people have ordered or brought stuff from US.

I have been to US (and Europe) a couple of times and have brought a lot of things in to India. Usually the people at the clearance (when you enter in INDIA) do not bother, what you carry (for what ever reasons), unless you bring something seriously prohibited or noticeable. Electronics is the least of their concerns. But as safe play, its advisable to just place the item as if its not new and is used, that is without any new packing and all. This usually does not raise any concern,,, so Mostly (and yes to ans your question specifically) you just walk from the green channel .....
