Hi guys,

As with the title, what home theatre equipment would you buy for 3L?

setup must include a projector, screen, AV, speakers :D

Opinions can include out right best possible setup for 3L or a setup that can offer upgrades in the near future

i wouldn't wanna suggest components of the setup however that you have included projector and screen i would say a budget projector and good avr+speakers will be a better setup because if you go for Mid-range projectors itself more than 1/3 of your budget will be eaten by PJ + screen itself.

i would break down the cost this way..

60-70k for PJ
10-20k for screen (more if you want fixed frame)

40k AVR
40-50k sub

100k speakers+cables+connectors ..extra stuff.

5.0 ( polk/wharfedale/psb/tannoy/paradigm etc)

I have never liked a PJ.. so I ll change that alone :p...

Samsung 64 inch Plasma (1.6L)

Top of the line 9.2 AVR from any brand from middle east & will pay duty when i get them to india... (75K)

Sonodyne Avant speakers & a matching 2 subwoofer's :ohyeah: for the remaining money.. will add speakers later

Hi, is the Samsung 64F8500 available for 1.6L now? I am getting a price of 1.85L in Pune which i feel is on the higher side.

I would seriously consider 64f8500 if it was for 1.6 L here in chennai, the few places i did enquire said around 2 L with taxes.

If you like the TV, try negotiating hard....I know it doesn't happen with samsung products.. Try to get a quote from Vasanth & Co... Of all the dealers i checked, i got the lowest quote of 58K for Samsung 51F4900 plasma while others refused to negotiate @ 62K...

If i had the money, samsung 64 plasma it would be...:ohyeah:

I have recently bought the mentioned setup for 3.25 lakhs which includes the avr too

Congrats Nickhill... How much did you buy them for... which AVR ?

Seriously guys, I'm just not able to take a decision, I've been pondering it over few months now,

the way I'm thinking right now, I see better than I hear I guess, so I want to spend more on video than audio, I love the idea of big screen which is best I guess to watch movies.

I pretty much have time to watch only on the weekends, I just can't manage to sit down and enjoy movies on weekdays

On the projector vs f8500,

I'm pretty sure SD channel on any screen bigger than 40" is absolutely pathetic, if I going to enjoy just HD then why not on a projector? I'm thinking on those lines....

do you think spending money on epson tw-8200 is a waste? I know that I will need audio so I'm thinking of going with the bare minimum on audio setup, sthing used or bare minimum avr/speakers

Just for reference, I currently watch TV on my 22" samsung lcd (working 6 years now and going strong) lol, I've looked at LED Tv's and the quality was so crappy each one of em, I mean that includes some flagship models like sony, samsung... plasma's are a lot better

With this budget, you can really make a good setup
I would suggest you to go slow ---

buy in order (below just example, make as per your need)

1. TV
2. AVR
3. Speaker........etc

It will give you time/energy to think about all the component one by one
