I got my Panasonic TH-L42DT50D last week :yahoo:. And now my old sony blue ray player can't play  the 3D blue ray movies which I bought few days ago. From net I understood that I've to spend again  to enjoy the 3D movies. And I've decided to start arranging money for a full flagged home theater system once again gradually.

My first search is a good 3d blue ray player. But confused whether it'll be a "wise" decision to have a PS3 instead of a dedicated PS3 or not. I've never played or used PS :o....so..! But what you people think? I do not know whether the ps3 can play ordinary dvd or vcd or mp3 or not.

Second search is a good option for home theater set up. Starting AVR with 2 front speakers with a sub woofer.

I want to enjoy movies/music from internet. So the system should have the capability to support this. Yet to buy a wifi router.

My room size 17'x12'; viewing distance 11'. Budget at present 25K (includes first choice and little saving for 2nd choice). Add up money for the 2nd: choice in future.

Pl suggest your views and advise how to proceed.

Your TV comes with built-in Wi Fi so not quite sure why you would need your prospective BD-HT setup to support that as well. PS3 is actually one of the best BD player out there and will work well for both console gaming as well for playing BD discs. Secondly, rather than trying to play old format CD/DVD/mp3 discs, use your TV's USB for it.

Alternatively, refer to this thread for decent input on HT setups within your budget:

No No I want a good wifi router to connect the TV with modem as the distance from tv to modem is about 12ft.

HTiB is a option but I think separate AVR and speakers are better option. So my intension is to build the system gradually instead of buying HTiB.

It is a good decision to start your HT hunt in separates. But 25K is not enough to start with a good AVR and book shelf combo.

I know. 25K is for the 3d blue ray player/ps3. And depending on the price additional price will be added to further 30K on avr+speakers with front and center. Afterwards will built the full HT.

Buy a second hand PS3 from forums like indianvideogamer, techenclave or erodov. Will cost you around 10-11k or lesser. Use it for a month and see if you like it. If you don't, sell it and recover 90% of your money.

Get Panasonic BDT 220 or Toshiba BDX3200.
Both are 3D and can be made region free by firmware hack. Price should be around 10K and you will need to import.

Idea is not bad. It is just like going to driving school before buying your own car:ohyeah:.

If I have understood your comments correctly, you are not really into gaming. In that case, better to avoid PS3 and spend your 25K budget on a full fledged home theater system - that will include a 3D BD player.

Or if you plan to have a different AV set up, you can get a very good 3D BD player between 10K to 20K.

The PS3 is just a option which will give option for game. I'm not that intrested to have LG, Sony etc for HTiB. My first plan to have a good 3d blue ray player then gradually set-up the total home theater. The problem is the I found Panasonic BDT 220 for 3d blue ray player as a good option but not available

I still haven't got around the speakers part so no suggestions for that. For the AVR, I checked Onkyo TX NR313 (around 14K) and looks like a well-round unit. Will it fulfill the criteria you have in mind is something you can judge yourself. Here's the link for clarity:
