it's been 1.7 yrs since i purchased cadence based amp-speaker combo and have reached a point where i feel i need to complete this setup...needed some inputs on what should i proceed.

Current setup
LG blu ray player -> Mogami IC -> Cadence VA1 -> Mogami speaker cable -> Cadence Arista.

LINN LP12/ITTOK/M75 -> pulz phono -> Mogami IC -> Cadence VA1 -> Mogami speaker cable -> Cadence Arista.

i'm thorughly enjoying this setup and it's sound signature. however i feel, the cd player im using may not be the best. should include a dac in this setup? any other ideas..?

2 things that need urgent replacement:

1. The LG Blu Ray Player... in the very least play it through a DAC like the Wyred4Sound...
2. the phono.... get a Nighthawk - its is still the best and cheap!

A better phono or and a dac with pc based transport. If you are not comfortable tweaking a pc then a one box cdp

Upgrading your source will take your setup to the next level

Sidvee on the forum has mf dac with tube buffer on sale. You can surely consider it

PS my post was not with intention to promote sidvee's sale. The op asked for suggestion and based on suggestions I gave sidvees sale came in my mind. Thats about it

Why BD player ..... I feel it is Insult to such a setup - A good CDP or a Very good DAC is required

Is pulz phono good? Or change it with better pre.

Thanks for reverting guys!

hemant, yup! pretty much why it was time to start this thread. cadence purchase had set me back quite a bit by my huimble standards! this thread is more in the direction of what i need to add in coming months.

Rikhav - thanks for pointing out sidvee's thread, i have sent him a PM. will have to do a lot of research here as there is no way i can demo it..

Manav, how are you dude?
well, you lead by example. i believe you have a wyred4sound dac as well. i would love to get it blind but it's certainly out of budget.. (dac1) Nighthawk - again maybe a tad bit on expensive side, but ill keep it in my list.

on budget - please dont mind me cribbing about high rates; ultimately i want to shortlist on good products and wait for the right time to invest.

If you are looking for any room EQ do let me. You can test with mine and discover if it helps.

Definitely a better source, a good DAC or a CDP is what you should add. Am sure you should be able to get a better phono in the on sale section with in your budget. Both these will fix the weak link in your chain.

The other important factor is room acoustics which also adds or takes away a lot from the overall sound.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
