Is BD 93/ 95 the end of products from oppo, or would they come up with something new this year?

If they do come up, what features/ additions would be there? Or what features do u dream of?

I think oppo should now look at a receiver or processor given their strength in both video and audio.

Adding airplay to their bdp (they already have dlna) can integrate with Mac/ iphone better.

In bdp 95 since they have added so much around audio, a stereo volume control would be great. Since they have such a nice DAC, they should let it be used as a stand alone dac for computer audio, and a better music playing interface (though I don't know how does the current look like).

Finally, a remote control app on android and iphone :)

I was actually writing a humorous stage play of an internal discussion between head of marketing and head of R&D at Oppo. Let me see if I can finish that and upload it here. That also predicts where Oppo will go.

Cheers

So the winner is the one who guessed streaming player.

Got a mail from Oppo that they have launched a service along with a compnay called Orb to allow streaming services like netflix/hulu/amazon on demand... . This software sells for 20 USD and works with a network connected Oppo.

Oppo Landing Page - Orb

Hopefully an Indian ip address wont stop these services, but they might.

Oppo typically does not release products every year as they have very few staff. Currently BD standard is frozen at 3D-BD and there is not much improvement from the semiconductor manufacturer either. They are waiting for a significant improvement in the form of 3D video processing from the IC vendors to move in to the next product. There may be a newer spin with integrated video SOC but it will just be a minor improvement and cost savings for Oppo compared to the two chip version in BDP-93/95.
