Guys,

Am travelling to Singapore next month - plan to pick up an amp (and if possible) speakers from there.

Any recommendation you could provide on where to buy from (deals) will help immensely.

Thanks.

Try the Sim LIm square and the Adelphi mall....Adelphi is upmarket with a complete array of top brands...if u are buying at sim lim be sure to demo the unit completely before paying.

Answering the wrong question :o but just in case it helps ...

If you are at all interested in computer sound/monitors or studio equipment, Sinamex is the local dealer for M-Audio and a whole lot of other stuff. You might find it interesting to take a look. Knowledgeable people, too, not just sales guys

As Asterix has said, Sim lim and Adelphi are the places to go. I got my cdp from Alpha Audio in Sim lim for a bargain price. There are lots of small store, check, bargain, and see that unit is working before you pick it up.

Hey guys need quick response. I am being offered marantz 6003 cdp and amp for sgd 710. Ie inr 23000. Is this a good price or should i bargain for better? I got this quote feom alpha audio sim lin singapore. Pls help. I need to buy And come back ro india tomorow.

Alpha audio simlim always offers Marantz at great prices. You can't go wrong. Just remember to claim the GST 7% at the Airport and keep the invoice with you just in case India customs asks for it. Since the purchase prices Rs.23000 is less than free allowance offered (Rs. 25000/- assuming you have been away from India for atleast 5 days, i think), you should not have any problems walking through green channel.

Hope this helps.

Hi anand,

Both PM6003 amp and CD6003 costs S$ 390 each, so the quote you have got seems attractive.

I also purchased CDP Marantz CD 6003 from Singapore for Sing Dollar 370...approx two months back....below this amount anything is good deal for Marantz CDP 6003.

btw, what speakers are you considering? I would suggest you to buy the speakers first, and keep this deal in mind. Maybe try a few speakers with this amp. You may try quad or ushers etc based on your budget.

Hi Guys, thanks for your response. Will pick it up today. One question - is it okay bringing this in through checkin baggage - i cant carry it in cabin and am slightly worried of damages in transit.

Responses to other comments/suggestions:

- Consider 8003/7003 - i had auditioned the 6003 in Delhi and it sounded good to me. Am not really educated about how these are better than the 6003
- Speakers - will pick them up from India. When in delhi, i had tried this amp + cd setup with MA BR2 and it sounded sweet.

Thanks so much. Irwin.

hi ipsanand,

You can only check in this, as anyway you can't carry more than 7 kgs in cabin. I am sure the original packing is good for these products and if you still want more safety, buy few meters of bubble wrap and cover these adequately, tape them and check it in. Ask the counter staff to put a "fragile" sticker.

Also, use your pleasing personality and ask for a priority baggage tag as well (even if you fly economy) and many times they have obliged me. This will double make sure you package comes out quick at destination and probably a little more care taken. Good luck.

Note : i have brought all my stuff from Singapore through Checked in baggage and everytime came out intact.

All three models i.e. CD-6003, SA-7003 and SA-8003 use the same chip and sounded almost similar to my ears. What is different is....
  • SA-7003 can play SACD, but can't read off a USB device
  • SA-8003 can play SACD, read off a USB device and has a copper chassis.

Depends on what you really are after. If you don't want SACD capability, buy the CD-6003. Fantastic value at Singapore price.
