Hi.
i'm a newbie here and this is my first post.
in my search for a 32 HDTV i had narrowed down on the below given tvs.
sony cx420 and samsung D5000.
after i searched the forum i listed the pros and cons of these 2 tvs and then decided i would buy samsung D5000 as it played all formats without issues.
am not a videophile and so maybe i will not be able to differentiate between the PQ of a sony and a samsung.but i might be irritated if after buying Sony, i see that it does not support some formats or does not have some features that the samsung had which is very obvious to anyones eyes.

the quotes that I got for the samsung was 37,700 with bill and 33 in grey in chennai.

now comes the twist in my story.
i got an offer from a friend of mine for 32NX520 sony for 30,700 with guarantee.
in grey it is 28 k in chennai.
now i'm confused which to buy.
samsung D5000 or the NX520?

1)is it so much a good price for the sony that I can forget all the cons of the TV and buy it?
2)will this TV which belongs to BE family play all formats like MKV and so on?
there is no clear indication as to this in the forums.
some say it will play as its the older BE3.
some say it will not play.
some say it will play but not properly.
in this regard if any of the owners in this forum help me with their experience, i would be grateful.

2)if i buy this TV and if it does not play all formats i will get a blue ray player.in this case which one to get.my expectation of the player would be that it should play dvds, blue rays (of course) and all other formats.nothing else.

any suggestion on this is greatly appreciated as this research as gone on for a month now and i have to close this by latest this saturday.

Buy the Samsung D5000 Edge LED TV...i honestly don't think Sony NX520 is worth it,more particularly when it's sourced from the grey mkt(with "?" guarantee) & when Best/smooth tv usb playability is desired with wide/video media format compatibility .In such situations, as u can already think,u might get pissed of,even when both Sony cx42 or nx52,though being based on BE3 p.e does it's usb media playback compatibility job only half way.Morever Monolithic designed Sony tv like the NX series have a inherent problem of being too much reflective as the front side of these tv r made of glass which is a natural reflective material & can add to various distortions which u might not like!
With Samsung,u might at worst face a panel lottery but again the final p.q difference is subjective & might NOT even be discernible by various viewers!

Thanks Indiglo.
that was my thinking too.i have not seen NX520 as it was not on my list at all, but i saw one onida model with the same kind of glossy finish and it was like a mirror!.
how about buying the samsung in grey?is it worth it?

if u r in cash-strapped here or mayb with a young adventurous spirit,u can easily go out & purchase anything in grey, including ur sammy e-led,...my first canon dslr from 8-9 yrs ago was purchased for 50k+ in grey & its still working fine:)....but having said that if ur like the majority of indians much concerned abt ur tv safety/security with coverage of the manufacturer warranty net, then surely purchase locally/properly with bill..it will surely give u essential peace of mind & may save u @ crucial moments when the tv will be young & more prone to failure!

thats bcos most guys dont buy 32 here :)

that mayb true for the niche avant garde consumer-member here, but 32"tv is still the mainstream lcd-led tv type in india which gets sold the most!

thats bcos most guys dont buy 32 here (here means HiFiVision. And HiFiVision is mostly not '32 inch mainstream lcd-led')

Go for samsung, I am using it for the last 5 months.
Best thing is that you can play most of the stuff you have got in your Portable Hard disk directly by connecting to the USB port.
Also it has got an excellent design.

Purchase the Audiolab 6000A Integrated Amplifier at a special offer price.
