Which 42/46 lcd/led tv to get from middle east??

Hello guys.This is my first post here so please bare withe me!
I tried to search for a similar thread but couldnt find one.

My dad is going to qatar in May so i would like your help on which tv to pick!
My requirements are:
1.Great SD,Mom and sis watch alot of hindi serials!
2.Good contrast and viewing angles.
3.Should play any movies from a HDD but its not that important coz one can always buy a media player,right?
Not interested in Internet capabilities etc.I just want a good tv to watch normal SD channels and the occasional HD movie.
Our normal watching distance will be from 8 feet to 14(near dining table).

Budget for tv is 55k to 60k! This will be my first HDTV, had a 29inch Akai.

I know the hassles in shipping a large tv by air.I am not interested in plasma tvs now because i plan on purchasing one later.

I have not demoed any tvs because i am currently down with the flu, so kindly chip in with your opinions, experience on models like Samsung 40/46 d6X00 series and sony 40/46 EX/nx 720 ones,which should be available for around 50-60k,right??.

Welcome Hifian!!
I guess your lucky because now most of the manufactures are replacing their 2011 models with 2012 so the ridiculously low priced tvs in qatar(2011 models) will sell for even lower!!
I dont know much about LED/Lcd tvs coz i was only interested in plasma but I guess you can get the sammy 40/46 6 series and Sony ex/nx 720 series tvs in your budget easily!!
If your buying a tv from there please test it before you bring it here,you dont want to carry a 30kg defective paper weight!!:lol::lol:
I hope some other member who own the above models can chip in!!

I guess there are only 3 tvs i am looking at! the Samsung D6600/D6400, Sony NX720 and LG LW5700/LW6510!! All these tvs currently sell for around 50k for the 40/42 inch ones!!
Can anyone tell which is the best one for SD?? I read o the AVS forum that the Samsung d6X00 series have more clouding effect and suffer from poor capacitor quality which reduces the life??

hey guys please help!!
i am undecided on the 40/46 nx720 and the 40/46 samsung d6400!! I checked some shops in Goa but could not find the NX720 series on display!! only saw the ex720!
Guys the only difference between the 40 and 46 NX720 is the local dimming, does this make a difference?? the 46 in too big to transport so only considering 40 inches!!! How does the 40 NX 720 and 40EX720 compare?? i am looking at the SD viewing part! Is the Samsung better than the Sony?? The only reason i am going for a sony is because the samsung D6000 series have a lot of backlight bleed/clouding problems and have a problem with capacitors which tend to make them unreliable!!
I can live with some backlight bleed/clouding as the sony's too have it but to a less extent, but since i wont have the one year warranty i dont want to take a chance with samsungs quality!!!

The 40" NX720 lacks the local dimming of its bigger brother 46"NX720.

Backlight bleed can occur in any edge led based tv.

The 46" NX720 is the better tv compared to EX720,D6400.

The 46NX720 is a bit over my budget so either i go for the 42/46ex720 or the 40/45 Samsung d6400!
I guess both are same when it comes to SD viewing,right??

Also i saw some Lg models,the lw5700(local dimming) one but heard the lg build quality is not that good and the contrast levels are not great! I will demo this model but is it worth demoing??Btw i will never use the 3D at all, be it any model or make!

Hey guys i am confused now after demoing a Panasonic st30 plasma!! what picture quality man!! it had excellent colours,played a football match brilliantly!!
i think i am going to skip the LCD/LED tv and go for a plasma.But only problem is that the st3 cost 63k here in goa!! Over my budget!!

I will post in an old thread about transporting a plsana tv by air!!
If its fine then i will buy a plasma,else i will go for the EX720 or samsung D6400 Led tvs@!
