I would like to use a trigger cable between Marantz AVR and Marantz power amp. I understand that we need a 3.5mm mono cable. Can we use a normal 3.5mm stereo cable? There could be issues but hope someone can confirm if they are using a stereo cable as such on Marantz gear. Thanks. Stay safe.

You will be absolutely fine with a stereo cable.
The other way round would be a risky proposition that could cause a short
Refer attached pic that should clarify why

Stereo 3.5 does not work ... at least, it didn't work for me. Tried various stereo cables ... no go.
Right now, I'm using 2 mono 3.5s - one between the Emotiva pre and power (for 2 channel) and another between the Marantz pre-pro and power (for HT).
Also, see this thread ...

So Marantz cheap out and dont even give a Trigger cable with their Power Amps?

Emotiva does !

Even my Anthem power amp didn't come with one, talking about cheap out :p
But then Anthem swear by their auto sense tech which i don't like.

Cheers.

Purchased Parasound pre and pwr last year
Pre came with 2 cables:
3.5 - 3.5
3.5 - 2.5
Pwr came with 1 cable:
3.5 - 3.5

Cheers,

I also want to use remote cables between different equipments but little afraid to use.
I too would be looking for suggestions.

Watching.

just try a 3.5 mm stereo cable na.
It’s the most basic of circuits and If the ground connector is on the lower edge, it will work. If it is on the upper edge on one and lower edge on another (or vice versa), it won’t - but that is unlikely.

That 12v trigger is simply a 12v binary signal that triggers a relay - I had used something likes this for over a year with the trigger out on a marantz 6010 to power a marantz pm17 (no trigger-in) :

It won’t break anything ( a mono jack on a stereo female will short 2 leads but there is nothing to short in this scenario) and you have nothing to lose if it doesn’t work
