Hi guys, i want to buy new earphone. I narrow it down to few below. Which one is best for daily use while exercise or sitting in bus for hour like that use.

MEElectronics M6 ( i wonder why mediahome is selling this at ebay 300rs more then home site at which it is 1200rs)

Sony MDR-EX50LP/57 (990rs/1100)

Creative ep 630/830 (i would go for ep830 as its only 350 rs more)

After searching a lot, i read that mostly says ep630 don't have clearity so sony mdr ex50 lp is better while its 57lp model is not cool due to heavyness of link.

I like bass but doesn't mean i only hear mainly bass. So which one, you guys think is best vfm.

Thanks.

On seeing the title, I rushed here to type names of $400 IEMs ;)

I am guessing you need sturdy, comfortable, isolating IEM - not all of which would be available in great measure with all choices. Those are not the only best choices available around Rs. 1000 or so. Before giving other choices, a few answers would be helpful -

  • What is your maximum budget?
  • Are you open to buying from International sites? Or would you feel safe with Indian local warranty?
  • How important are mids, highs and sound stage to you?
PS: Cheap plug: You could keep an eye on my sale thread too!

Mention you budget.

MEElectronics M6 ( i wonder why mediahome is selling this at ebay 300rs more then home site at which it is 1200rs)
That's because of ebay charges & fees. This is mostly, if not always, true for ebay listings.

I can go 1500rs if earphone is really worth it. I don't know very detailed knowledge of stuff as you are writing like soundstage, mid, high. I have phillips bass rich earphone in which right bud is giving less sound. it costed me 1200rs 2 year ago. So i wanna better then that. I don't know site which are trusted for international trading these stuff. I bought some stuff from ebay so i trust it.
Thanks guys for fast response.

PS, i have to become member of techenclave site to see your product.

lol! you people are really dangerous!

@OP : how about soundmagic pl series earphones. read up about them online. there are few of them in your budget. as mentioned by others your music preferences matter too.

just as the habit is .. if you can up the budget to around 2K i have read that brainwavez M2 is a very good buy
(above suggestions are generally known for their good bass)

@OP,

Join TE and check out my sale thread ;)

Actually below 1000, PL-11 for bass and PL-30 for a bass light signature are good options. You can get both from PristineNote here.

If you want bass and want to order from within India, best option would be Brainwavz M2. It has what I'd call a very 'safe' signature, something that can satisfy most people. It is not the best ever IEM, but at that price point, it offers a great combination which other IEMs fall short on an overall basis.

Newer 2011 line-up from SoundMagic is not available with most dealers, but E10 and E30 are models worth keeping an eye on. They are said to be really good though may be a tad out of your budget.

There is one important resource any IEM enthusiast should refer to - Multi-IEM Review - 193 IEMs compared (Shure SE215 & Munitio Teknine added 9/01/11). You may not be able to understand everything he says right now, but the scores should give you a general idea of where each IEM stands technically. The good thing about ljokerl is that he always manages to keep his personal bias off his scores (refer to Westone UM3X, Etymotic MC5, Shure SE530, Shure SE535 reviews and their scores. He does not like them, yet ranks them higher).

Well brainwavz is 2700rs at ebay by booyahoo. Didn't find at other place. soundmagic PL30 i heard is good for pop although its better then ep 830. I like to listen rock and bass songs so bass must be good as first priority. What about sony mdr ex50lp? 855rs. In phillips only 1 i can see SHE9700/98 1200rs.
And MEE m6 also i heard is good for bass, soundmagic pl 30 is better then MEE m6?
how much light is bass in PL 30? atleast more then previous phillips SHE9550-97 i owned?

@esanthosh that is very good thread ^^

Jason, If you can order online, do give a thought to the Xears Xb120. Full paisa vasool.

Soundmagic Pl30 is a very good iem too, I have used it extensively outdoors without issues, but yes the signature is slightly bass light. You can use double flange tips to get a better seal and thereby better bass, but only to an extent.
A used Brainwavz M2 would also be a good option. As esanthosh pointed out, it has got a very safe, likeable by majority, sound signature, and is quite fun too.
If you want a bass heavy big brand iem which you can abuse and will be a step up from the creative ep630, go for the Senn cx300. I have slept wearing it, tripped on it, but not a bit of damage, it was quite tough.
The ep830 is a decent iem, quite durable, comfy, and not as bass heavy as ep630.

If you can increase your budget, look at the ecci pr401, very small and unobtrusive, comfy, durable and sounds quite good. Its got imaging that is ahead of its price bracket.

Sennheisers is too costly for me, its like 2500rs+ to get descent one, better to buy creative ep 830 1100rs around. If soundmagic PL30 beats MEE m6/sony mdr ex50 lp/creative ep 830 in bass and clarity of sound.
Also about detailed knowledge, i think which buy costly earbud its important for them. for me bass must be good with enough clarity in that price range.

I think, i should buy soundmagic pl 21 700rs only and all things i need in it. i don't see any other option except its too costly like 2500rs+
I can buy only by credit card tho, no netbanking or bank transfer payments.
So what you guys say? buy pl 21 from ebay at 700rs?

Hey Jason,
I have personally used Sony mdr ex 35 for more than a year and it is really worth very penny until i spoiled them myself.. Now the right one doesnt work.. Bass is handled really well..

Now i am planning to buy EX 57 which has some good reviews.. I would suggest you to buy Sony as it has been ergonomically well designed..

well if sony ex 57> soundmagic pl 21. i would go for sony ex 57 as its 1100rs. waiting for more people comments.

Brainwavz Alpha ~ Rs.500
Soundmagic PL11 ~ Rs.500
JVC Marshmellow ~ Rs.500
Brainwavz M2 ~ Rs.2500
Yeah soundmagic PL21 is better then these 500rs. brainwavz is costly for me. nobody said about MEE m6 at 1200rs, i thought, its best at that price range.

finally i ordered soundmagic PL21 at cost of 735rs. Lets see how it perform for me, if not good then next time sony!

E-bay, it will come tomorrow. I bought Koss ksc75 also as i needed headphone for pc. I searched a bit and found thats best. I got em today, listening music while writing this. Amazing sound :D

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
