Which LED 42" ?

Hi,

I am looking to buy a 42" LED TV which is the Most Value for Money. Can u guys help suggest some models so that i can narrow it down from the plethora of options out there.

I don't want to go for Plasma's as my job requires frequent relocation and that's why i am going for the LED

Also have the 2011 LED models announced by different companies or will they be announced at the upcming CES, and should i wait for the new models to be announced or buy now ?

Most value for money is a difficult question to answer as it is so perception-based, judgemental and opinionated.

For example, your own statement that you wish to go for LED and not plasma because you relocate often is highly opinionated - because it is not as if you are going to carry the 42" LED yourself everywhere. You seem to have formed the opinion that plasma is like some heavy beast that is not portable. No doubt plasma's are heavier but ... anyway.

In my opinion, a VFM item is one that fits the budget and offers maximum features that are important to me while not compromising too much on quality, etc. Having said that, LG LED TVs are by far the cheapest of all equivalent LED models having similar features and in perception VFM. Samsungs are not too far behind but are more expensive. Sonys do not offer any (or much) discount.

Since you have not mentioned your budget, I am assuming this to be 75k max. In this budget, I will advise any one the following:

• LG 42LV3500 (MRP = 65k)
• LG 42LV3730 (MRP = 68.5k)
• Samsung UA40D5500RR (40" - MRP = 69K)
• Sony KDL-40EX520 (40" - MRP = 69K)

Demo all the models and choose the one you like best.

One last point on latest models: anything you buy now will become outdated in a year or two anyway. So let you current need and budget decide your priorities. If you wait for newe models, you may be persuaded to wait for few more months.

42LV3730 is priced 59k in ebay.

samsung D5000 is quiet popular in hifi threads with price running from 53-55k.

even i prefer LG models.
lastly if u can control ur urge to buy LED TV for a 1- 2months, from August you have festivals season where u can get good offers.

Well First of thanks for the suggestions !!!

Secondly I already Own a LG 50Pk550 Full HD plasma and believe me when i say this, it's a really heavy piece of equipment, it took 2 men to mount it on the wall and 4 men to bring the carton up the flight of stairs to my third floor Flat, I am also fully aware of the kind of problems plasma tech comes with, and moving it safely is one of the main one's, One crack in the screen and your whole plasma is worthless and that is the reason I am going for an LED TV as my Job requires me to relocate within an year or 2 to a new place.

Also has any other compay other than LG annouced their 2011 models ?
Also last year too i waited till august for the festival offers in august but they never came, it was only in around mid of October that i really saw some festival season offers, including online sellers but by that time I had already bought the LG Plasma for 64K. I believe this year wouldn't be any different as well, it would probably be around OCtober month that some good worth mentioning offers stick up and i won't be able to wait that long, but i am contemplating waiting till august as most of the newer models would surface int he india markets by then and maybe the prices on the older models and some of the newly annouced LG models may also go down considerably.
