I want to buy a player to drive my bedroom system (T-2021+wharf 9.1) which can also be used for PMP while I am traveling.

Based on reviews/my requirement I finalized Cowon C2 and D2.

D2 is cheaper by Rs 1500 but I want feedback from people here which one is better in terms of audio quality and user interface.

have you looked at sansa Fuze+

mpw

I have heard good feedback about Sansa clip + and Fuze but not aware if they are better than Cowon apart from there exceptionaly low output impedance which makes them compatible with most of the headphones.

There should not be any difference in sound quality between the D2, D2+ or C2, as they are pretty much identical when it comes to hardware:

But the C2 takes micro SD cards while the older models, like the D2 that I had, used full sized SD cards.

Thank you for your response!

what about user interface of both of them?

can we use the sansa fuze+ or cowon for than matter and take headphone jack output and feed it to 2 ch amp by means of RCA to 2 RCA ?

would the sound quality be Ok for devotional stuff etc.. ?

looking for somwething along these lines for mom so that all her CD's to FLAC to sansa Fuze+ to amp or powered speakers..

@vizeta,

I think the UI on C2 is oriented more towards the Korean teens. Even then, it should be slightly better than the D2. With Cowons, the UI can be entirely replaced with custom UCIs made by enthusiasts. While C2 does not have as much custom UCI as J3/S9, it has a few here: C2 UCI Themes & Stuff - iAudiophile.net Forums

@mpw,

Most probably, you will need a pre-amp. The output of Clip+ is 15mW and Cowon is 29mW.

Even I am looking for a VFM portable source for my Topping. Would a Cowon or Sansa have a good enough DAC for this?

kneo, get soemthing like the nuforce udac or similar from fiio to go with your topping, that would be better, if you can use with a computer.

I am not going to use it with a PC. I am planning to use it as an easy to use stereo system where I can play my music directly off a USB stick ! I have a WDTV and am planning to get a Yamaha 473. I can use any of these as a source and get stereo output from AVR to Topping, isn't it?

WD is not very user friendly in this setup (basically as you said, I'll need the TV to be on for this). Easiest would be a portable player directly feeding the Topping, but with cell phones, etc. I really have to crank up the volume of Topping at around 2-3 o'clock
