Dear FMs

Although this question has been asked innumerable times but the changing scenario of todays Television market has forced me to ask again..

Plasma or LED ?

I've had a 43" plasma for about 3 years now and although the ownership experience has been great. I feel there's so many tickers that make you want to ditch a plasma and go for an LED.

what say FMs ?

Should I again go for a plasma or I should let go of them and buy a LED ?

Do they have any advantage left over LED anymore ?

Please advise

Dear FMs

Plasma or LED ?

Please advise

If its not broken, dont repair. If it meets your requirement to the T, then keep it. Think of replacing only if you are missing on something that is making it inconvenient to use on a daily basis.

Plasma was expensive to make amongst other things and so manufacturers stopped making panels. Led is cheaper as pc component can be made on same lines.

I have both and still like plasma even tho it's 720 P and been going strong for 11 years.

So if you have liked her until now, stick with her. Change only if you really need to.

If you can keep plasma don't spend now on led and get oled instead. New LEDs (mostly bigger sizes) seem to be more complicated design due to slimming race and tend to break sooner. (Check net)

The older ones were built like a tank although quite bulky.

But I doubt now you have choices. At least shops won't keep them easily

Plasma's are out and have finally met their match with OLED. I too am worried about the day when I have to replace my plasma.

If you must get an LED, get a good one. The budget LED's are no good and to a large extent, even the mid range one's are no match to a plasma.

thanks FMs

I've made up my mind.

I'd stay with plasma for some time more and wait for OLEDs prices to come down.

Meanwhile does anybody know of any anti-reflective treatment possible for my plasma screen.

My living room is naturally alight so reflection off screen is real pain in a&*.

In my opinion stick with the Plasma and upgrade to OLED when it is mainstream. The current line of budget LEDs are no match to Plasma PQ.

Not sure about the anti reflective coating. I am sure you must have already adjusted with that screen. I would just leave the screen as it is!

Leave as it it. You may damage the screen and PQ if not properly applied.
Instead go for darker curtains or try to tilt the screen downwards if its possible. Worked for me.

I had a samsung 51 inch 3D plasma which was a beauty. The colors, picture quality 3D were all great. Unfortunately it broke down in 18 months. Honestly, LED's can't match up to the picture quality of a good Plasma TV. I found the mid range LEDs in range of 70,000/- upwards also not close the picture quality I enjoyed in a Plasma. I finally bought a budget 50 inch LED TV from Panasonic. No smart features. Just plain TV. I am looking forward to OLED, as Panasonic has started producing them customising LG panels.

For now Plasma is dead. I don't think any of the major brands sell Plasma any more or are keen to sell Plasma.
