This is my first post a total newbie to this forum.

I am not able to figure out how many inch LED TV i really need it. I have a budget of around 55-60k and my viewing distance from TV to sofa would be 9-10ft. Also I have sofa from the right hand side from the tv.

I am actually not able to figure out which inch LED TV i should take.

After using 25 inch Samsung Plano Flat TV for last 12 years I have finally decided for an upgrade.:yahoo:

Please suggest me which one to go for with model name.

My requirements is a Non-3D TV with best 2D picture quality , which does a better up-scaling on Non-HD channels to HD for viewing , good audio quality , also great viewing angles also . and definitely VFM.

How long LED lasts? Will it last for around 7-8 years with daily 3-4 hrs of usage .. as I didnt call a single time the service center guy in my 12 years with Samsung TV . Still my TV works great in terms of viewing sound infact that 12 yr old TV-Remote is also working properly . :clapping: but its high time now so decided for an upgrade.

Also please suggest me budget Home Theater for a budget of 5-7 k

Thank You

For a viewing distance of around 10ft a 42incher would be ok.
plasma tvs have better viewing angles.
my suggestion would be a 42 plasma from panasonic, since it has the best picture quality and 3yrs warranty, though their after sales service is poor.
if you want LED LCD then sony has 3yrs warranty but screen size would be 40 or 46 inches, no 42".

So many questions but very in line with what a typical user will ask.

Welcome to HFV. You will find many people to help you in all kinds of queries regarding HiFi.

I suggest that you opt for 42" at the minimum. You can definitely get a TV of this size in the above budget. Go for the maximum size possible within the constraints of viewing distance and budget.

I do not wish to get into the plasma vs. LED argument and assume that you want an LCD/LED only (if not go thru some plasma threads). As said, go for 42". But in your price range and 42", LED models may not be available. The Sony LCD 42NX520 is a good choice. So are Samsung UA40EH5330R or UA40EH500R. These will fit your budget.

32" is not too much larger than 29" (in fact same size area wise); so going from 25" to 32" is not a major upgrade. And very soon you will find that 32" does not do it.

Once again, I do not wish to go into the plasma debate but you will find that in the above departments, plasma excel. However, I will advice you to audition/demo your options. What appeals to me, will not appeal to someone else and so on. Audio quality in flat panel TVs is at best pathetic. Even ordinary CRT TVs have better audio quality.

LED TV has LCD panel and LCD panel can last anything up to 80,000 hours. That is if electronics hold out. You do the math for longetivity/life at 3/4 hours per day.

Also please suggest me budget Home Theater for a budget of 5-7 k

At the above price, you will get a crap HT. My suggestion is do not waste this money. If you wish you can invest in a sound bar instead which is better VFM than a HT worth 5-7K.

" bade acche lagte hain"
" Bada hain to behtar hain"
Go for the biggest possible which you can afford man!

I can increase my budget max to 70k considering that I'll get around 3k for my old Tv. so what would you recommend for that.

Which VFM sound bar i can get in upto max 8k range.

I stay in Mumbai so i visited alfa stores vile parle last week.
Got these prices
Sony 40hx750 - 73k
Sony 40ex650 - 62k
Sony 40ex520 - 52k
Samsung 40eh6030 - 63.5k
Samsung 40es5600 - 59.5k
Samsung 40eh5330 - 53.5k

Which models in 6 series.. I heard in other wesbites comments that samsung eh6030 has a bad pq in 2deven though it has 3d also... y so
As I stated before, go for a demo yourself. Whatever I may say, may be be "coloured" opinion.

about tv I say pls take which picture qyality u feel very pleasing and appeling to u only.....and no one else........
about home thetre pls dont waste ur money on sony davTz215 or like that anything..........
at least 23k u have to spend or if u r lucky u may get it under 20k
onkyo or denon or yamaha entry level HTIBs.........

again saying pls dnt waste ur money on sony,lg,sammy hts......they dont even give u 5.1 channel sound:mad: from an external source like tatasky/or a media player..they are complete waste of money.they only have a hdmi output, only when u play a dvd disc in that particuler player u enjoy the hdmi.they dont have the dedicated decoding chips like a dedicatd av reciever.u will see its of no use after buying....

just imagine a case.....u have tatasky hd..u want to enjoy the display at ur new tv..and also want to enjoy the dolby digital sound by tatasky hd...there is no method u can connect ur tv from a tatasky via hdmi and enjoy the dolby digital sound simultaneously in case of those HT packages u mentioned....yes they will output sound anyway..but a seudo 6 channel from 2 channel stereo fed by red and white cable...u will miss the sound signals carried by hdmi cable from ur tatasky hd box

if tight on budget buy creative 2.1 at around 2000.. thats enough for now.........save money and buy something good in sound later.

^^^ Mostly I agree. But some of these htib's do have an optical input for external 5.1 audio source.

But the sound is nothing to go by. I would recommend going in for a sound bar instead that outputs decent sound (not 5.1) that supplements the tv audio and looks quite sexy just below the wall mounted tv.

Otherwise, select the tv solely for the performance.

yes some of the sony/lg htibs do have optical input but as kix rightly said the sound is nothing to go by..plus have not experimented that the tatasky/any other hd boxes do send dolby digital via their optical output Or they dont(they surly do this via hdmi..tested)....so best option is entry level htibs like denon 1312..onkyo 3300/3400 etc.....

or in tight budget as kix said a sound bar is good....In my opinion more cheaper:D option is just creative/intex pc 2.1 speakers ...say for 2k/2.5k.......

no 5.1 pc spekers...there will be the case..some models wont have connectivity Or mitashi or like they have connectivity but they just parrallel the 2 channel sound into 6 channel:mad:......

to optimise in my opinion is buying the tv and a entry level avr+speaker htib by denon/onkyo/yamaha is very very good to enjoy....if you are truly not into audio..u will be very happy with the set ups and no upgradation reqd....but with very expensive tv and cheap sound u will feel(maybe) the urge to upgrade.....thats completly my idea.....by the way...
also if you are spending that much please buy hd set top box...no normal cable or non hd set top box.......

guys, would it be wiser or indifferent if I choose a ES6220R over an EX650 (both 40") ? Of course it boils down to personal preference when demoed. But I want to know if there is anything that is almost accepted by all when it comes about PQ between these two.

ES6220R has an advantage of 3D but its of personal interest.. Buy a TV which has better 2D performance as that would be generally your max viewing.. 40EX650 is a decent buy overall

Purchase the Audiolab 6000A Integrated Amplifier at a special offer price.
