hi,
any one using wireless home theatre in their home ?
should have purchased in 2010 or 2011.
the wires willl be a mess as my living room is full of furniture and other stuff.
so was looking for wireless home theatres ( HTIB )

ok i will put it like this

" A HTIB with wired front speakers and wireless rear speakers".
the problem with wired home theatres is cable management to the rear speakers. i know we can buy cables management kits and hide it well.

one of my friend said why not something like " Sony BDV-E870"
The front speakers and subwoofer are wired. the rear speakers are wireless.
i read that even panasonic has come up with such models in 2011 home theatres.
any comments is appreciated :)

There are wireless transmitters and receivers which can then drive the rear speakers. I know a brand called 'Rocketfish' which does this though not sure if its available in India yet.

Finally LG seems to have understood my problem and they have a solution

LG Home Theater (HX995TZ)

LG HX995TZW Review - Home Cinema Systems

Audio Capabilities
LPCM, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby True HD, DTS -HD High Resolution Audio,MPEG 1/2, MP3 /ID3 Tag, WMA,AAC, DTS HD Master Audio Essentials.

I like the above for 2 reasons. It is completely wireless. It can play most formats. Its ok if the sound is a low as i enjoy home theatre with average volume ( i have mercy on my neighbours).
I know a lot of them will have good reviews on Onkyo.
for a room 12*15 , for a average volume, for wireless i could not have found a better ht than above. it costs a good 1299$. Let us wait for the indian prices.

I know two options....

1. The Violet speaker pkg (its a completely wireless speaker pkg)

2. Kef has a vireless solution. You may check that out on ProFX website

LG might not give you the best sound quality. So do checkout brands mentioned by others above as well

But as you are after HTIB .. I think there are not many options :)

i am after HTIB because i dont want great sound such as onkyo hts 3300.
more over i am looking for wireless satallite speakers. so this model looks good for me.

my question is since it supports most audio formats,
does it mean that if i use a Media player and output movie to this home theatre, the home theatre understands the audio format in the movie and plays it for me.
is my understanding correct.

here is the audio formats supported
Newegg.com - LG LHB976 3D Built-in Wi-Fi Blu-ray Home Theater System w/ Wireless Rear Speakers

Go to details section and you will find below.

Audio Capabilities
- Signal/Noise Ratio: 100+ dB
- LPCM: Yes
- Dolby Digital: Yes
- Dolby Digital Plus: Yes
- Dolby TrueHD: Yes
- DTS: Yes
- DTS-HD Master Audio Essential: Yes
- Sound Modes (DSP): 9 Modes

Yes, it should be able to decode the audio out of your media player. For HD audio via HDMI in and for Dolby/DTS even Optical in is enough. Being DLNA compliant you can play audio / video from your DLNA complaint phones also.

But I thought you wanted a complete wireless solution, this is only rear speaker wireless.

My issue was wires running back to the other end of my room.
In the front , i have no issues. I hate wires running around the house.
Anyway, this product is yet to be released in India i think.
The newegg.com provides better technical and review details than any other site as per my search.
So based on the info in the website i am hooked on this home theatre.

Manjunath, even iam searching for same thing. My wife always complained of wires decorating living room. Hope this product launches in India ASAP.

Sony's is a 2010 model.
when i tried to audition the sony blu ray HTIB ( the one in the sony website),
the retailer told me that that model is discontinued by sony. That when i started looking for other brands and lg was there to deliver.

MOre over this LG model is LG's flagship home theatre model.Kewl. i will check with retailer as to when they plan to sell these in bangalore. You never know, may be again i will be the first to buy and review a LG av product in bangalore. ( the same happenend with LG LV 5500,)

@deepakg - you mentioned a set of transmitters and receivers to make the rear speakers wireless. are these available as a set solely for the purpose of making an existing wire-ful HT system wireless? i'd like to make the rear speakers wireless in my onkyo system.

i know FM transmitters are available individually with a couple of pre-set stations. what about receivers? are there simple receivers as well that we can pair up with speakers and transmitters? would these work even reasonably well in the HT context?

thanks,
-hcs.

ok. competition for LG. Sony has come up similar home theatre
E980W 3D Blu-ray Disc/ DVD 5.1ch Home Cinem

BDV-E980W (BDVE980W, BDVE980W.CEL) : TV & home cinema : Sony

what is funny is that this sony home theatre was listed in sony website along with BDV 880.

980 was priced 40k and 880 30k. i dont why the 980 was removed.

Since both lg and sony have almost same features, it gets difficult to decide.
i think the wireless capability of both products will decide the winner.
So waiting to audit both these models :)

what do u mean by the following
DTS96/24, DTS-ES Matrix 6.1, DTS-ES Discrete 6.1 Yes (HDMI in: No) / Yes (HDMI in: No) / Yes (HDMI in: No)
DTS/DTS-HD (HR/MA/LBR) Yes (HDMI in: No) / Yes (HDMI in: No)

as i understand it means that if ur media player which connects to the home theatre sends this audio signals, then the home theatre will not decode them. It is the job of the media player to decode the above and send it. Am i correct ?
