Found this Tablet with a Wolfson DAC. Specs and reviews seems to be very good for this price point

How good is performance of this DAC.

AINOL is one good Q tablet

however it sells in 104 USD i.e 6000 max , if you know how to import

Just because the dac is wolfson that dont mean it will sound like a dedicated DAC, galaxy S too has wofson , sound is soso .

Can someone do a tab as source

My Nokia E6 supports USB OTG , has built in 6GB memory and expandable upto 38 GB (by adding 32GB card). So I use my mobile as digital source and send signlas to dedicated DAC. Sounds pretty good but eats up phone battery.

Stay clear of Nova (or any Ainol product for that matter), regardless of what reviews and specs say.

Ainol is a "typical" Chinese manufacturer, who puts 80% effort on marketing, 15% on planning and 5% on execution.

I have one Ainol device lying useless with me that I bought with the hope of being my "go anywhere" media player.

For Ainol it is not top notch but seems pretty good .

I can guess it will be much better than the micromax funbook like poor TABs one bad part in these is a elchepo battery of 2800 mAh .
so tab will drain in 3 hours , this is one overlooked factor as buyers here simple wanna buy a TAB.

The components are visible in the internals .

Never rely on the forum reviews single handily told all are written by paid users, if you come across any real time users in your circle go with that for this kind of stuffs.

It is not for this product alone, i am indicating including AV items too. Lot of reviews in top class forum were written by paid users;);) I know most of the guys out here too without any AV products but they recommend that to go with that<"'.'>

kaushik, the problem is that Companies have recognized it already that more users tend to trust "user reviews" more, compared to "professional reviews", as professional reviewers have earned somewhat a bad name for themselves. So, now manufacturers have started paying attention to getting good reviews at "user review" corners. How that can be done is anybody's guess.

Back to Ainol. I bought the Ainol media player due to all the hype surrounded around it. Here it may not be known, but among the Chinese people it was pitched as an iPad killer, because Ainol desgined Nova 8 to be an "iPad killer". Unfortunately, the actual product failed miserably to deliver. The design, the marketing, the market positioning, everything top-notch, but actual product just average (or even below that in some cases).

I bought an Ainol media player, and around a INR 1000 worth of extras to utilize it fully. Product came packaged as a luxury item, but that was all. Poor hardware and very poor software. But of course, your mileage may vary.

i know the paid user review thing after all i am not a guy who has recently started surfing the net :)

but i rely on many other things that confirm the quality part some of them are
* review at the reliable store
* x yz forum guys that have been buyers of the products and real gadget freaks
* How good the maker in terms of technicals and the price to value ratio

Secondly the things like iphone killer, ipad killer are day dreams.
Third thing,
There are china replica of china gadgets . So user has to buy fro m a reliable store
like mp4nation (they test every HW and label as mp4nation for some special versions ) and merimobile.

what are the real bad things in the Ainol ?
did you try to flash a better UI system, you can easily remove the stock
china UI and have a decent Eng UI .


My expectation is that in 7k Ainol will come with very good HW , UI and chinese crap.

So just i need to reflash amy be the media player also i need to replace to have a better ones . But will serve for wifi usage / downloads / casual games and reading .

Even I checked the user's feedback @ ebay about product/seller. Did not find someone reporting any issue.

Above all one should not expect quality above/equivalent to 20K+ products when paying 8-9K.

But if we are getting better quality compared to products available in same price band then we can say this is good deal.

hehe, first thing is not to rely on the reviews on the online store.. That is too much dangerous;);)

In technical terms all are good, only their firmware or so called OS makes the difference to run smoothly.:cool:

I don't think anybody from HFV bought this. You can check with the people who bought this item on ebay. This is a good way to get first hand feedback.
