Hi Friends,

I have XBMC installed in my PC (Intel core i3, 2GB Ram, 500 GB HDD, 1GB nvidia Graphic Card).

Its been cool to use the XBMC, but I found the video quality is not as good as in VLC or PowerDVD. What may be the problem? Whether its a fault in my configuration or XBMC? :indifferent14:

Please share your suggestions...:)

I dont see any such issues. What exactly you mean by Video quality ? It might be your BD rips probably not up to par ?

I use it on my Asus i7,8 Gig Ram, 2 Gig Nvidia graphics. It plays like a breeze and quality is great !

I mean if I play the BD rips through XBMC, the picture is a little bit dark and a bit grainy.
But If I play the same through VLC, its been very good to look at.

Is there any settings which I have to change in XBMC?

VLC doesnt have better picture quality than XMBC. Have you selected resolution correctly?
Is hardware acceleration on?

@ spirovious,
The resolution is set as same and also the hardware acceleration is "ON".
So, no problem with that. Let me check other settings also.

@ reignofchaos, I will surely try MPC-HC with madVR.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

You can use XBMC as the jukebox and launch the combo MPC-HC + MadVR. I have this combination and it is one of the best player for video/audio. You can use this link to understand and configure the MPC-HC with MadVR and use this link for configuring the XBMC for launching the MPC player as external player.

Thanks

How to do that? Could you please explain it to me?

Read this thread. You can use any media player as external player. You can also choose the file types for which you want external player. I have tested kmplayer, potplayer and TMT5. TMT5 integrates nicely with xbmc and it supports 3D blu-ray playback also. PowerDVD can also be used as external player.

Also have installed Pure video HD?
PureVideo HD

Whats there to install in that? Purevideo HD is the marketing name for DXVA acceleration on nvidia cards. Its enabled by default if you just install the drivers.

@spirovious
Purevideo is installed by default. I have also checked the XBMC settings and DXVA has also been enabled by default as said by @reignofchaos. So, there is no problem with that.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
