Are you sure that the DVD has the 5.1 channel sound as you said that its a pirated one. Most of the pirated DVDs have multiple movies copied and hence to save the space normally its a 2.0 and may be rarely 2.1 channels. Try with the original DVD and I am sure you will get the 5.1 channel output.

Hi She_abs

As mentioned by others Pirated Discs mostly do not have 5.1 or DTS recording....infact the sound is so blurred up that I hate even watching beyond 5 mins....you should get a Pioneer Blu Ray player BDP 150 which is a 3D player....it has USB slots where you can connect pen drives or 1 TB portable hard disks...I download all my movies from the net which are Original 5.1 or DTS rips. When I play them, immediately DTS or 5.1 displays on my Marantz AVR and I get the subtitle and audio language options too....

You can ask some of your friends or if you have any other original DVD just to check if the coaxle is working fine...else...read the operations manual and check if everything is done as recommended. It may be wise to get a good coaxle cable..

Hope this helps
