They are priced quite high. Around 20000 USD. Very unusual for Yamaha to introduce a speaker at such a price point. They won the product of the year from TAS in 2020

Nope never heard one, but the originals ( NS 1000 ) were a benchmark at their time for resolution and clarity as they were the first to use Berrylium to make their 3 inch mid range dome which was really the star of the show. The originals are still very sought after, so Iam not surpirsed that the newer one is stellar.

Yes, it is exactly 50 years back, and even now, the used one sells at 1500-3000 USD, though not rare.
