Hi, I have set of yamaha v483 avr and wharfedale 220, my room size is 12 X 14.I mainly use it for music, some movies and lot of gaming. wharfedale 220 pair sound beautiful with music (sometime lacks bass) and feel sufficient with my room size but in movies i feel like something is missing in dialogue section.

should i buy a center speaker, will it help in movies dialogue effect? is 3.1 setup good for music, movies and gaming?

also i am new to avr world so want to know would my receiver be able to handle full 5 channel speakers including wharfedale 220 front, 220c, 210 rear? and as i my room size is 12x14 would this 5 channel setup overpower the room?

please suggest how will be 3.1 or 5.1 experience with yamaha v483 in my room size?

You have queried about adding a center speaker to make it 3.1 but I don't see any mention of subwoofer. In your situation a subwoofer (if you don't have it already) will result in more improvement, across movies, music and gaming, rather than a center.

Center will help in movies, for dialogue and other effects as well, but you may add it in the next step.

Your receiver can certainly handle all those speakers and it won't overpower, but loudness would vary according to listener and surroundings, neighbors, etc

Yes i need a subwoofer too, i have seen few as my room size is small i am very confused.
Sorted out
1. Pioneer s51w cheapest one. 150w rms
2. Taga tsw 90. 90w rms
3. bic v80. 100w rms
4. Bic f12. 150w rms
5. Polk psw110. 100w rms

Also saw a link for taga inmove 8 90w rms but compact build for just 15k. Please suggest a good sub max budget 25k for subwoofer.
I dont like it very loud or boomy, just want it to bit low and tight bass.

In your budget BIC F12 will be arguably the best. Emotiva basx S10 is also good.

Don;t worry, I have a 10X12 ft room and I am running full 5.1 setup with XTZ sub 8.17 (200 watt RMS). Can get theater like effect without troubling neighbors.

I am using similar setup except the AVR is older model Rx-v477 which has same power spec as 483. These are made to work in 5.1 config.
Adding a center will improve the dialogue clarity. Sub will enhance the effects and punch needed for movies.
Using 220c center in my setup.

Nice setup, are you using it in bi amp mode?

Hi Guys, one peculiar problem with my rxv 583. It is connected via arc to my tv. When I play movies via HDD connected to tv, I get sound in my receiver but only on 2 channel stereo mode. There is no sound in any cinema dsp modes. Can anyone help? TV is Sony KDLW700B.

Second, any setting I need to do if I connect TV and receiver via optical cable?
