Yamaha YHT 196 help please

Hi all,

I am planning to buy Yamaha YHT 196 but i have one confusion. My Tv (sharp LED) has no optical out or coaxial out , but i want the TV sound to play through HTS. Although i have an Analog out (RCA), which i can connect to Analog input of AVR. But i am confused if it will work or not ? and if it does, then its this AVR capable to converting stereo output to surround sound ?


Please help as its the only thing stopping me from buying this :sad:

ya it must work and pl2 will also work..
imo..get onkyo 3400 by some extra money..worth it..

And r u sure abt this , as one member of hifivision has told me that i need a digital out only if i wana achieve this. Please help me with this confusion as for me buying this is a little big investement, and i dnt wana buy a hts that i will not use

To get virtual 5.1 all you need is to select DSPs like DTS Neo6 or Dolby Prologic in the AVR. It will work for analog as well as digital inputs. Go ahead and get your dream ht.
