Hi guys,

I am looking for a new HTIB system and would be retiring my old Artis 5.1 system.

Today I went for a demo to Vijay sales opposite my office and listened to the Yamaha YHT 196. I am quite impressed with the sound quality with crystal clear vocals unlike my Artis 5.1.

The guys over there is quoting me 23500/- for Yamaha 196 and If I opt for Philips BD 2900 player then it would be 26500/-. Do you think its a fair quote? I thought it to be on the higher side. I would be visiting Reliance store in some time and would update their quote as well.

Hi ,

Its little costly man. i think the prices have gone up but still higher ..Search in some other shop as well.

Try to audition Onkyo 3400/3500. wats ur budget and % of use with music and movie ?

If I use this HT in my bedroom without placing speakers separately just like a normal music system, will it do justice to watching movies?

I didn't have place to put 5 speakers all over the room so I got a hw 450f samsung soundbar and was wondering if I paid 17k for that, should I consider replacing with this 5.1 for partial 5.1 experience?

My usage pattern would be 80% movies and 20% music. The Croma is quoting 27k for Onkyo 3400. Anybody knows where can I get a good quote in Pune

Since 80 % movies, u can go ahead with Onkyo 3400/3500.
Check fr the local dealer . U can get 3400 arnd 23 K

Hi Ishaan,

You can easily mount the speakers, as Rupam told. There is no point in placing all the speakers in the desk n expecting a gud experience. To get the full surround mode 5.1 , u need to place the speakers in the right place.

Sub, Centre, AVR and Front (L+R) , you can place in one place.. Only thing is , u shld place the Rear (L+R) behind ur listening position in the wall.. Enjoy ur full sound experience.

Hi all,

I am planning to buy Yamaha YHT 196 but i have one confusion. My Tv (sharp LED) has no optical out or coaxial out , but i want the TV sound to play through HTS. Although i have an Analog out (RCA), which i can connect to Analog input of AVR. But i am confused if it will work or not ? and if it does, then its this AVR capable to converting stereo output to surround sound ?

Please help as its the only thing stopping me from buying this
