YHT 299 + Tata sky Dolby digital issue :(

Hello guys,

I am using YHT 299 coupled with Tatasky. For past few weeks i am facing an annoying issue with respect to HD channel Dolby digital sound. My AVR would disconnect for a second every 3/4 mins. Audio alone disconnects and reconnects and it happens repeatedly. WHen i change the sound option to PCM i am not facing this issue but i dont PCM when i have AVR. Dolby digital works without issue with netflix /Amazon prime. Tatasky technician have no clue. I want to know if i should opt to replace my STB or is it something wrong with my AVR.

Help me out guys

I am also facing this issue. My system is Yamaha 3067+NSP40.

I think, problem is with DTH service.

This problem occurred with my Sony HT IV300 HTB also.

How is the STB connected to AVR, I use TATA Sky HD+ box and haven't faced any audio pause issue. I use Co-axial out on the Set top box connected to my AVR.

1. Keep the setting in DTH Set Top Box as RAW/Bitstream. The audio signal then will be processed and output by the AVR. Further keep DD and not the DD+ as the desired sound in the settings of the set top box.

2. Remember ALL so-called HD channels do not send Dolby Digital content. These are just 'upscaled picture' versions and send only the PCM audio to the AVR. Try with Sony HD Channel, it is with DD content.
 
I connected STB to AVR via HDMI. This problem was not there right from the beginning.

I changed settings and HDMI cables also but no luck.

I am able to play videos through android box with out this problem
 
Take up the matter with the service provider and ask them to replace the STB or reset/upgrade the firmware. There seems some issues with Firmware of the STB.
 
I checked with Tatasky executive however they had no clue. Their technician asked me to use the audio as pcm to solve this issue ??. They have no idea on this. Guys let me know what needs to be done on this. ??
 
If I were in your position, I would have asked the executive to change the Set Top Box (Since the current STB is not performing well) or I would have switched to Airtel DTH. Tata Sky is nobody to dictate which sound format their customers would opt for! What's the use of HD STB then?

Tell them sternly, you want to change the STB, else you gonna disconnect their service. When there are various options, why to sulk?:)
 
I also was thinking regarding it however I recharged my Tatasky with annual pack recently :sad:. I asked them to change the STB however they said it would.cost 600 Rs
 
I have owned YHT 299 for 2 years and linked Tata Sky HD STB with it all along, never faced this problem. The other way round is if your AVR is under warranty, ask the Yamaha guys to reset the firmware. If not you may consider resetting yourself after downloading the latest FW from their website. AFAIK there has been no FW updates for Yamaha 3066 AVR since 2014.

Since all other DD files (from own sources) playing flawlessly, chances are less FW of AVR has got some problem. Most likely its the issue of the source of the audio coming from the DTH and AVR finds dicculty in decoding the audio.

If possible take the AVR to a friend's place with Tata Sky HD box and check if the issue is there too, if that is so, AVR is at fault, if not, STB needs to be fixed.
