This is recent purchase done during the Amazon sale in May 2024 for around 10K. It is a headphone amp with preamp combination. I bought this mainly for use as a headphone amp to drive Sennheiser open back headphones HD599 (50 ohms impedance). This is an entry level component.
Some features - Bass, Mid, treble control. Line in and line out. Headphone out (unbalanced type) 3.5mm and 6.34mm, Tone kill button and Gain button (Low and high gain). Headphones drivability 16 ohms to 600 ohms. Battery back up upto 6 hrs of play time. Can work simultaneously on 5amp 1volt charger or Battery together.
The specs says it is an analog class A amplification. There is an Indian youtuber "what I think" who has reviewed and opened and shown the inside of this headphone amplifier.
My chain is a C port Dongle Dac (DD hi-fi) connected to Laptop and a 3.5mm aux extension cable from dongle dac to "line in" of headphone amp. The response is very satisfactory, no coloration of sound. The tone control gives an added advantage to customize the sound depending on the tonal signature of headphones. It is driving this Sennheiser open back HD599 headphones very comfortably on Low gain settings.
I have not tried this component as a pre amp properly as I do not have an exclusive power amp. I have a conventional integrated amplifier on which the testing cannot be done properly. But I have tested this with active speakers and also connected to the integrated amp for just a short time. Honestly I find the tonal signature of the amplifier alone to be much more superior in comparison to the preamp section of this headphone amplifier. My amps are Norge concerto gold 1000 (class AB) and Cambridge Audio Topaz AM10 (class AB).
On rating part I can give this headphone Amp an 7.5 out of 10 as this is a budget component so we cannot expect very high extraordinary performance. But overall it is balanced, neutral sounding and anyone looking at such aspects of audio will like it especially as a headphone amp.
