Did you check the settings? is the audio o/p in the settings set to digital or stereo. Also you need to change the settings on the AVR to assign the respective inputs.

Hi tech,

I am sorry this question of mine running on two threads. But i think i am doing something wrong with the settings on my AVrR. Cause there is no sound thro the
optical cable even from my Oppo DVDP.

Re: WD TV -No sound

Sri, two things I can think off:

1) See if you are connecting the optical out from the WDTV to the Sony SACD port instead of optical. My Sony AVR has the SACD optical port also, not sure about yours. You seem to have tried both, so ruled out. I had done this myself as I was unable to read SACD behind the AVR as it was placed in the rack:(.
2) You will not be able to play HD audio via optical. So change the setting in your WDTV to play the audio after down-mixing. For Eg: Dolby True HD will be played in Dolby Digital 5.1 instead. Similarly for DTS MA HD. You may also have to prevent audio from being sent via HDMI. Not sure about WDTV settings.

Contact Srinisundar or Venkateshsmart as they are in Chennai and own WD-Live. They may be able to guide you over phone.

Check the input of the optical as it can been assignable. I assume you need to select the right source by selecting the digital input on your AVR.

Re: WD TV -No sound

Hi santhosh,

Thanks for the reply. No my AVR can't handle SACD Audio. So there are no issues there.I think i am not able to resolve it with my AVR. From my DVDP the AVR plays multi channel sound thro coaxial. But there is no sound if i connect the DVDP thro the optical cable.Have to take it to MBR tomorrow to see if it works on his system.
Thanks,
sri

Yes it is assignable. DVD-Coaxial. Video 1-optical1 CD-Optical2. Have tried both video 1 and CD with both optical 1 and 2. No luck.

Also check WD TV settings
Go through Audio and Video and select Digital

Well Hemant... I have assigned the optical in my AVR and set the audio option on the WD TV as digital. Still its not working. As i have said before the problem is with my AVR as optical sound from my DVDP is also not working.

I think the title needs change..
It gives un necessary bad name to the said player..

Thanks Ram.Your suspicion regarding the cable proved to be right.I can understand you wanting MX cables to be compared with other high end cables. The optical i bought from Mercy is giving fantastic sound from the WD. High end does not always mean high performance.

I think we all will miss you at the meet.

Note:A special thanks to your 'offer' before starting for US.:)
