Sony 295es is not in sale now and is few generation older now. brightness wise after calibration, both will be around 1300 lumens. Sony will be sharper and has better color coverage and contrast compared to epson.

I think these two projectors are of different league. I have the 590ES and to me the Sony color science with native 4K is the end game. My only gripe is that these are still bulb based. I am not sure the money at which you are getting 295es plus if you are willing to strech on the money part but if I am buying a new projector in 2025 then it would be a laser native 4K projector.

Why epson is rating projector as 3000lm it should be twice bright as sony right?

3000 lumen rating is based on non accurate (more greens) bright mode. epson, benq and many other brands rate their projectors based on that mode. with accurate modes like "natural" will normally reduce 50% of the claimed output. only jvc and sony rate their projectors more accurately. they only lose around 10-20 % in their accurate modes.

oh then what will be the lumen requirement for a bright picture (like led tv) in sony and jvc?
In this price range there is no projector that can match a TV, especially HDR and DV - they are darker than TV's on most $5000 - $7500 projectors. SDR is ok. Please audition before making any decision.
