Hello Friends,

I cant forget the first love experience with my music system 30 years back and chasing to find that sound signature B&W DM4 and Sansui AU 517. I must have changed 30 system over the years and never felt the same again.

That’s a beautiful kind of nostalgia—chasing a sound signature that once resonated so deeply with you. There’s something irreplaceable about the first time you truly connect with music through a system that brings it to life in a way nothing else has.

Do you remember what made that sound signature so special? Was it the warmth, the depth, the clarity, or something intangible? Sometimes, vintage audio gear or specific speaker tuning holds a magic that’s hard to replicate. If you’re on the hunt, maybe looking into similar components or brands from that era could bring you closer to that experience again.

Now, everything below will have to go, as want to find my "First Love"

Stereo HiFi Rig: Cambridge Audio Cxn v2 + Arcam airDac + Cyrus6 / Elekit tu 8730 300b + ASI Live line power cable + ASI Live line Reference IC + Townsend Isolda speaker cables + Linn Keilidh speakers

30 years back you were not an audiophile :), and later have graduated to a full-fleged audiophile with 30 certificates (setups) over the time.
Guess you need to step back 30 years for that elusive equivalent;). Good luck.

I feel it's just in mind. If you listen to same old equipment and same room now, most probably your thoughts would change.

My room is the same and me too
Happiness and the emotional response ( good or bad ) depends on your expectation vs reality. Back in the day, I doubt your mind had any audiophile expectations so your positive emotional response would have been very high.

However you could easily assemble a vintage system that closely replicates that sound you deeply seek.

I have a similar experience. However when I hear a vintage system that closely resembled what I used to own back in the day, I quickly get tired of it. I can now hear all the problems too. That's the problem being an audiophile. My original system in the 90's were a mix of sansui, pioneer, technics, sony and big 12 inch woofer speakers etc. Your B&W DM4 and Sansui AU 517 is more refined.
