oppo bdp 80 vs 83 - which one to buy ?

Thank you all for your inputs, I have dropped the plan of buying opp 80. Will wait for the prices to come down or choose a blue ray player that would have 7.1 analog output. Pana 85 newly released supports such config.

hi
You can check out LG BD370 and LG BD390. These have 5.1 and 7.1 Analogue RCA out on the BDP. I think the LG BD370 is available in India.. you need to check. Its probably 17K INR. I am not very sure about support for new HD Audio formats such as DD THD or DTS MA... I think it does support these (apart from DTS and DD ofcourse)

I just checked the manuals online.. LG BD370, LG390 does support the DD THD and DTS HD formats as well.. also it has a USB interface thru which you can connect USB pendrive or HDD and play your MKV files.. it support MPEG4 AVC codec...pretty good features.. price is a bit high.. 17K ...you pretty much get the same features in the Sony BD S370... however the Sony only has optical out for digital audio.. it does not have Analogue RCA out which the LG has....

Hi Sud

I have heard the BD-83 and BD-80 in my own setup and compared to Cd6002 individually. It is good for background listening when not paying attention to music, but lacks that quality that makes an entry into "audiophile" class - even a budget one. The body and tone is where it lacks.

The Sh!t was to emphasize the 15K premium being contemplated by a member for considering its DAC. Certainly not worth any extra money if one wants a tongue tickling foretaste of audiophile SQ. :)

Edit: As to why it wont t match and compare to SQ of a SA-15S2, the details of the implementation make all the difference I suppose.

Hope the Sh!t is now cleared

Cheers

I am not right person to comment about these things but I read an article which is telling OPPO BDP-83 audio performance is almost equivalent to Cambridge Audio DacMagic. Please go through this article and enlighten us.I am willing to buy this product as all round solution because it could even playback upto 24 bit 192khz format so that we can enjoy greater depth audio as well ( I hope cd audio limited to 16bit 44khz).
