Hi

I currently have a Harmon Kardon AVR 130 with Infinity 5.1 satellite speakers with a powered sub-woofer.

I am looking to change my front speakers from a music perspective as well as for it to be part of the surround system for movies.

Would like advice/help on the right pairing/choice for the front speakers with the avr 130.

The current shortlist is between the DALI Lektor 2, JBL E30 and the Bose Acoustimass 5.

Forget the bose. I am having the HK 330 AVR with Bose AM 10 and not very impressed for music as well as movies. I am myself thinking of a budget stereo setup using either the pre-outs of the HK or using the zone 2. I am thinking of Wharefdale 9.2 and later may add the Norge mosfet 2000 as from what I read that combination would best suite my budget and listening preferences.

I dont know about DALI Lector 2 and JBL E30. Instead of Bose AM 5 you might listen to the Bose bookshelfs 301/302 instead if you still like bose.

Depending on the rooom size i would suggest paradigm Atom Monitors. recently i went in for the Paradigm Titan monitors. I have HK AVR 255.

You may refer my thread in this forum if you like where i have posted my experience with different speakers i auditioned..

One of the big limitations I have is space. The system is put in a pretty confined space of only about 180 sq ft.

So the question of floor standing speakers is really not an option. With the bookshelf itself, I would need to wall mount it.

So from a size perspective the satellites meet the requirement best. Working with these limitations, the Bose AM5 fits nicely. Heard the Bose speakers last week, but felt that the base was lacking for my liking ( I listen to a mix of rock, slow rock and indian), and if I have to finalise on that it would be a compromise. I heard them at the showroom, so not sure how they would sound at home!!

I heard the lektor 2 in my environment and it was not bad at all. Size being the only drawback, as I would really like a smaller footprint.

Heard the JBL ES30 today (also in my setup), not impressed and is out of the shortlist.

So back to hunting again.

Will try to hear the paradigm speakers this week (been checking the net and the prices seem more than what I want to spend, which is about 20 - 25 K, but will still check them out)

I have been checking the threads here for options but have not located a suitable option yet, will search more here too!!!

The input devices I am connecting to the HK avr130 are a mac mini (still hunting for a source to upgrade my coax audio out from the mac mini to a mini toslink/toslink cable), pioneer dvd player, ps3 and tatasky plus with bravia 42 lcd for the screen.

So guys, pls put in some advice for my problem ( the ideal solution for me would be sats that give at least lektor 2 quality with my avr, :p )

There is a thread on this forum in which the user compares the Paradigm CT90 to the deftech Procinema 600. Check that out . Or you may consider this

Micro Monitor - Welcome to the New Official Paradigm Website.

Thanks guys (mpw, venkatcr, sivakuru) for the inputs received. Did hear the Paradigm speakers in my environment and liked it quite a bit.

Having said that, for the reasons mentioned earlier, have finally opted for the ORB MOD2 speakers. Fits quite well with my requirements and sounds very nice.

Have installed it and quite enjoy the results.

Thx again.

Orb is primarily a direct selling supplier. To my knowledge, no distributors in Bangalore, while I understand they do have one in Mumbai.

I ordered it on the net directly. Good packaging and delivery, arrived with no probs.

Thanks. Absolute phase on Cubbon Rd did stock the Monitor series but when I called him about 2-3 weeks ago, he said that he didn't have them in stock and wasn't sure about when they would be available.

Will check out Rontek.

@kittu1977 - not sure of the exact value as I am yet to see the exchange rate that I get billed at, but I would be expecting it to be under 28K all inclusive.

@crewcut / kittu1977 - heard the paradigm at home. Organised by the south india disti of Paradigm, who is based out of Chennai, has a rep in Bangalore, thru their retailer (you can speak to him direct if you want - Francis, 9844484732)
