The same player which is known has BD550 in India and it is available for Rs.6,700/- in Vasanth & Co, Chennai (though there is no stock now).

BD530 is not yet available in India. BD550 and BD530 are quite different...

I checked and asked for BD530 model from LG Shoppe, exclusive dealers for LG products and was told that BD530 model's equalivant is BD550. If it is different can you let me know where it differs.

The exterior design in BD550 is different with flip-down panel to access buttons/ USB.
More online access like Netflix, Pandora etc., whch is not available in BD530.

LG BD550 is not a region free player. It is better that it is bought locally instead of buying it from Amazon where the player would have been locked for playing US region disc only. I recently bought this player and it played all discs (DVD) that I throwed in. It also played all movie files from the USB including mkv files. However, software upgrade was needed before it could play the mkv files. It also played a region free blu-ray disc. A decent and cheap blu-ray player for Rs.6600/-
