3D BluRay Player?

Is it available in India? If yes please let me know from where I can buy this. Thanks

There are quite some people on this forum who own oppo players. For one they are quite expensive and are not easily available in India. They sell their products online and that too from their own home website. They do not have delivery as yet in India.

Some members on the forum have bough it from shopyourworld.com or 20north.com. Its also available on ebay GEB for about 45k. The landed cost would be around 33-35k. This will be a 110 v model as its for USA. So u'll need a step down transformer, which will set you back another 2-3k. It will be locked to region A, so you ll need a hardware mod kit- add 5-6k. So finally it ll cost you around 40K+. !

cheers

I own an Oppo, the voltage is universal, mine works in 230v without any step down..

Stick to the PS3. I got mine for ~ 22 k last year but now the price is at ~ 17k. The images are truly fantastic. I use a stereo set up (Norge + Monitor Audios) for movies and the sound through component out and images through HDMI are amazing. Plus the gaming experience and the ability to play most video formats through external hard discs is an added advantage.

- Cheers !

What do you mean by "sound through component out"? Do you mean RCA sound output?

BTW, Does it come with a remote? Can I be able to configure my Logitech harmony remote to control the PS 3?

no PS3 cannot be controlled using normal/universal IR remotes. It works on bluetooth though and a dedicated bluetooth remote (sony official product) is available for arnd 1.5k. check this link:

Guys, Help me get a BR player.
I need USB playback for SD and HD movies. mkv especially. Planning to move my WDTV to the bedroom.
Also need 3D.
2D to 3D is available would be good to as my TV has no 2D-3D.
I assume all these players can do 5.1->stereo downmixing. Am I right in thing so?

PS3+remote is like 18.5k. Can there be better options in 10k range?
Planning to purchase today or tomorrow.

3D BD players from Samsung (d55000) Panasonic and Sony are in 12K+ range. From what I read samsungs are best when it comes to formats.

I did check the specs of d5500 but it did not even mention USB. Will check again.

LG Bx580 is listed at 10k. Has extensive multimedia support, 3D and built in wifi. I dont have a good opinion on LG though. Is it any good?

i had a demo of this LG 580 a month back and it was able to play all most all bluray rips i had.... i heard samsung and LG are good when it comes to media files compatibility..... panasonic BDT110 3D bluray player didn't play any of my 1080P rip and other files which had DTS audio...

Blasto,

if your planning for LG BX580 chk if it has Built in Wifi. i don't see this mentioned in LG India website and in the user manual whereas BX580 in all other countries comes with Built in WIFI. I'm planning to buy BX580 if it has built in Wifi, need to check this with some local dealer....

Thanks for this thread. Me too in the lookout for a 3d blu ray player. My VT20 is not playing mkv so definitely need one player in the range of 10-15k.
tried converting a mp4 to mkv using mkvtoolnix 3.30 and 3.0. nothing worked till now.

Between Samsung D5500 and Panasonic 110/210

From review on net i see that panasonic may not play all mkv. moreover when it plays mp4 etc there are issues in forward/ rewind etc.

Does the samsung play all formats ? (mkv,mp4 dixHD, xvidHD etc)

How is the pq of 2d/3d ?

Whats the best price for D5500 ?

Checked with Panasonic guys. They say getting a blue ray from US is better as it can play region A and C whereas players in india can only play region C. Moreover the cost of the player in 20north is 10.1k(110), 13.2k(210) compared to 19k+ in india. D5500 (11.1K)

Can we all plan and go for a group buy of D5500 or 110 or 210 ?

Thanks..

Spoke to 20north, no group buy funda over there. every purchase is individual is what they say. Still their prices are lesser than others.

I had the demo of LG Bx580, Samsung D5100 and D5500 with bluray demo disks and my HD/SD movie collection today.

D5500 in samsung plaza started playing all the movies from my disk but 'paused' automatically after every 3 seconds. The salesman said that there seem to be a problem with the set since it plays bluray disks. I asked him to give demo of the bluray disk and it dint play either. Said it costs 12.5k and issues like this are covered in warrenty. Said I'll get the demo elsewhere and come back if prices are high elsewhere.

Other two are in a different multi brand showroom.

LG Bx580: 10k with HDMI cable free. Has 10% cashback over it. (Letsbuy has it for 9k with a bluray disk and HDMI free)

Interface - Has 3D user interface - Awesome, snappy and reads the disk (1TB) in a jiffy compared to my WDTV.
Browzing through files is faster than WDTV.
Opened all the files which the WDTV cannot open also. I have stored them in a different folder. This is a surprise.
PQ is only ok. Blacks not black enough - Could be the LG LCD - Not sure.
Lots of grains in certain movie files.
Asked the sales person to play some bluray and he played Dabang. The picture graininess was visible in this bluray too.
All in all, great 3D/2D UI, played all the movies I thew at it. (I mean ALL), PQ not great but good.

Samsung D5100: 6.4k. Has 10% cashback over it. No 3D. (Letzbuy has it for 5.7k with 30 moserbaer DVD ser free)

Interface - Awesome. Much more snappy and fast than Bx580 (and obviously WDTV)
Opened all files and played back smooth. FF and Rwd worked on all files. No voice sync issues that I can see.
No grains and stuff, good contast and good blacks. Played in D6600 LED.
Played the bluray pretty well without grains.
No 3D. Thats the only issue.
Very very good for 6.4k.

The sales person told that Sony S380 will not recognize the external HDD. So did not demo.

Nice review dude. btw can you try for another demo of the LG Bx580 :). The 2 digital outs in the player is something i am looking for. My reciever does not support audio over HDMI , so using the optical out of the wdtv, I need a second one to the DAC for music. This will fulfill both the needs and yes bluray + 3D as well. WDTV/htpc replacement ?

Sure, we will go together and have the demo in the same TV. It was in reliance digital. I have to finalize too.

Just fyi.. I got the Panasonic BDT-110 from amazon and got it shipped through aramex shop and ship.

Cost me a total of 5909.26 (cost) + 2593 (shipping to India) = 8.5k

Reached me within 10 days of me ordering it on amazon.

I am in the process of getting a step down transformer built so haven't had the chance to test it yet.
