Finally bought for INR 5900/- @ sony world along with tourister & faster. How to make Denon AV receiver to decode HD audio from bluray player? Both the free disc show dts master audio, receiver shows multi channel input. Not able to make av receiver to decode HD audio, Any help?

^ you have to make changes in bd player menu. there is detailed instruction in manual.

From the bdp's audio menu option change the audio output to bitstream. Set audio preference to hdmi. Connect to avr via hdmi. AVR will decode the hd audio for you.

Set the mixing audio at source to "Off" in Audio menu. With this you will be able to see DTS decoding in your AVR.
In trouble shooting section of manual they have give detailed instruction regarding this.

I have other problems.


1. Whenever I play music from USB or Data CD, I cannot go back to browse other songs in same or other folder. I have to press "Home" which actually stops playback and then I move to root folder to see some other folder. This is irritating. Any solution for this?

2. xViD contents cannot be played through USB with AVI container. It says corrupt file. . However, manual says it supports xViD. What is problem?

Thank you Anuj, I did not receive the instruction manual so I do know how to configure.

I played some video files thro USB but I'm not particular about xvid file. I'll let you know.

anyway sony bdp 380 owners can u pls share about externall hdd reading capability...mkv files are redable??Or not and any hdd size restriction..I am planning to buy the same model...

I have tried my 500gb ntfs formatted drive and it worked flawlessly. all mkv were playing. strangely one mp4(in HD) didnt run and another mp4 has a-v out of sync. xvids, mpg etc are fine.

another weird thing is subtitle from HDisc not showing, but when u play the same folder by copying to pen drive, subtitles show. . . and only xvid files displaying subs along with. No mp4, mkv, mpg etc.

I dont have avr so cant say about HD audio. i am using logitech z906. i am poor man. :sad:

its cool if all mkvs are playing..i will go for that.cent percent file reading no player can offer....
one thing I saw in the logitech model of urs specs..that it can decode DD and DTS so u can bitstream from sony 380.. downloaded files with DTS..and check any diiference than AAC sound files..also BR disks with DTS logo...
other users please help that do the sony bdp 380 bitstream hd audio in case of a BR disk and in case of a usb file both??

yes, seagate goflex is by default ntfs formatted, i think. Well, i have tested like 10-15 mkvs. all are playing. Actually i havent tested the decoding capabilities of s380 as i have connected the speakers to TV. I am sure it will decode the BDs dts signal. Will post after testing.

I have bought sony bdp380 last month. I has HD audio and it shows on my Pioneer avr whenever i play hd audio DTS hd MA or Dolby Tru Hd.

Why the hell in my case xViD is not playing through this player? It says file is corrupted or not supported.

Container is AVI. Here is codec information from VLC media Player:

Stream 0

• Type: Video
• Codec: MPEG-4 Video(XVID)
• Resolution: 700x292
• Frame Rate: 23.976000

Stream 1

• Type: Audio
• Codec: MPED Audio layer 1/2/3(mpga)
• Channels: Stereo
