costliest tube amp ?

No, because the price quoted for the Threshold is more than two times the price it goes for on Agon. After paying such a premium, I still won't have peace of mind. Things like, what if something goes wrong, we are talking about thousands of USDs here. The higher price I will pay for will be for the warranty and peace of mind.

I can understand; it makes sense.

P.S. I happen to read your post before you edited.;)

My reply, just a humble attempt to keep up. :ohyeah::lol:

Parupalli Kashyap is in the quarters of China Open. He will be playing the quarters less than 10 miles from me. What a shame the weather is so bad, otherwise I could go watch the match :(

One more thing I have found out about pre-owned high end in India, there are a lot of defective pieces floating around, which are not up-to spec. I heard about another unit from a different manufacturer that kept changing hands, because "it was not able to drive speakers well enough to produce decent bass", when that amp. could nail the ba*%s of any speaker that I know to the wall. Turned out that the amp. was defective, leakings caps. Not sure if this could be the case here as well.
Cheers,
Sid

Sad but true...the pre-owned market is just not mature enough to be considered a competitor to the new goods market. I have heard of dealers who buy trashed stuff from places like Singapore and Thailand, refurbish with spurious parts and hawk them as original...by the time the equipment lands in your setup, its usually too late. Not just dealers, even many individual users mis-represent the state of the equipment while selling...but this trend dips as we go up in the hi-end value chain. You are most likely to find a lemon Marantz than a lemon Lamm...

BTW...coming back to the original theme of this thread...was reading about this a couple of days back. It's been discussed here before. Now, this does not look like an amp or a spaceship but more like a primitive nuclear reactor control center. Would love to hear it someday.
