Hi Guys,

I have been offered a good pricing on this Amplifier. I have personally heard the amplifier after connecting it to my speakers and I liked the sound. However, would like to know from any of you, who may have used this amp or have had experiences with this amp, about your thoughts on this amp.

Thanks

Hi, good pricing is subjective. If you can mention the price, it will increase clarity of suggestion.

What is the rest of your setup like ?

Did you audition it in your listening space ?

Since you liked the sound, price will be the criteria here.

Price is Rs.1,18,000/-

Audition was not at my place. I have a Marantz CD5004 as source along with Music Hall Vinyl Player. Tested it with my pair of KEF Q300. Result was awesome. However, will be later used with a Harbeth P3esr. I am sure it will be a great match with Harbeth too. If not will continue to use with the KEF's and look for something else with the Harbeth's.

All suggestions will be welcomed.

Thanks

IMHO it's a very good amp & very well made as well with the current pricing it makes a lot of sense & since you are happy with the sound i feel you should certainly consider it.
All the best.
Cheers

PM 15s1 is an excellent amplifier but it is overkill to Kef Q300. If you have plan to upgrade your speaker and CD player CD5004 in near future please go ahead. Otherwise in my view it may not be a good option.

If it sounds good to you, buy it. But I feel this Amp is an overkill for KEF Q300 which I myself own. Your speakers might become the weakest link. Its not that these KEFs are bad, but much cheaper Amps like NAD 320/Rotel 1060/Marantz PM6004 etc can match the KEF Q300. For a 1+ Lakh worth Amp, you can better look for Focal Chorus , Dynaudio, Tanoy, KEF LS and other speakers on 60-80K range.

I am not myself very new reentrants in HiFi audio, but I am telling from common sense.

If you listen other gurus, always start from choosing the Speakers as you would probably keep them the longest. Then find matching Amp, Processor, cables etc.

Imo selvin & ujjwaana have valid points. If you are going to upgrade your speakers in due course, then it makes sense to buy the S15 or else try another lower priced amp from Marantz & see if it suffice's your needs, taste etc.
All the best
Cheers

It's a good amp with a lot of resolution and detail. Tonal balance is correct too. It's a very 'disciplined' performer. You can't complain about the sound.

When it comes to audio gear, what is 'good' is very subjective. To give you an idea where I will place this amp; I will place this amp alongside Primare I30, Exposure 2010, Naim Nait 5i etc. That should give you an idea.

If you are getting a good price, it would not be a disappointing buy. By itself, the amp is a good buy. If I was in the market for an amp at that price point, I would take it.

The sensitivity of Harbeth P3ESR is 83.5dB, so it will need more power to perform as the best. But the output power of Marantz PM 15S1 is just 80W. Moderate sensitivity speakers will be suitable to the Marantz.
Cheers.
