Hello Everyone,
Need suggestion on buying Bluray player.
I have Panasonic Smart 3D LED TV.
Now while going for bluray player, will it make sense to buy 3D WiFi or a normal 3D bluray player?
Are there any benefits of having wifi enabled player when you already have a smart tv?
Also suggest options available, I mean should it be something from Panasonic for better compatibility feature match or can consider other brands also?
Thanks

May be one valuable point to get the wifi version is that: You can listen to streaming audio/ music while TV is off (?)

Same state

I'm in confusion between Samsung BD-H6500 and BD-H5500 models. I have a 3D SMART TV, so no specific need for that wifi/ or SMART HUB features in player. When I closely watched the specifications, the main difference that confuses me is in the AUDIO department:

H6500 has DTS-HD Master Audio Decoding and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio Decoding with Audio decoding output Dolby Decoding 7.1 Channel while the H5500 don't have DTS-HD MA and only 2.1 decoding??

I'm planning to pair it with a AVR capable of decoding DTS-HD MA ... Both of the above players has DTS-HD Bitstream Output and LPCM. I think both of these will send true uncompressed Master Audio to AVR through HDMI; so AVR do the decoding..

Please guide me...

@noblejose, if AVR can do the decoding then even 5500 will do work for you. If in future there are newer formats not supported by both AVR and BDP then upgrade you BDP and send LPCM instead of bitstreaming.

@akush, i am inline with nobeljose's suggestion of getting the wifi player for the same reason as he mentioned unless you already have a networked media player hooked to your HT. Just ensure that it has the work DLNA written somewhere against it

I've bought BD-H6500 today! got a nice deal - around 9.4K, 5500 was at 8K.

Just finished Pacific Rim 3D; great movie!

Audio: PCM or Bitstream... which one is better? My current AVR is very old one Onkyo - only accept Optical; I'm planning for Yamaha YHT-2910.

The specs looks good of this one with more audio codec support (i believe). Just one thing...does it matter that tv and player brand should match ... just a noob question though...

Another quick one.....has anyone bought these from any ebay seller...there seems to be much better deal offers with invoice etc etc claim.

If you have another internet enable device like smart TV or media player, going for WIFI enabled BD player is not much needed. The WIFI enabled BDP offers firmware update but companies hardly issue any update unless there is bug fixing need. The rather prefer announcing a new version or new model.

does it matter that tv and player brand should match ... ...
No it does not, however if you have the same brand then you may be likely be able to control both with one single remote at least for the basic operations if not fully. If you can ignore this then simply go for the best specs / deal
