I have a Lenovo n5110 laptop with nvidia gt525m graphic card. It's hdmi output is connected to yamaha rx-v673 av receiver and the receiver output is connected to videocon lcd tv. I play movies on vlc media player but it only decodes dts audio via spidf. I want to play dts hdma movies so which player is best xbmc or any other. If xbmc then how to install it and configure it. Thanks

There is huge difference between Gotham and Frodo. The main improvement is in the audio handling. They completely re-wrote the audio engine code from scratch. Other features are support for SBS/OU/Anaglyph 3D formats.

I am always for updates just that it took a while to configure and get everything working. Don't want to go through the exercise all over again but its tempting :)

Buddy, you need to enable the audio device as WSAPI in enable passthrough to see DTS HD MA, etc.

You make the update sound like reinstalling entire operating system. Gotham is a 60 mb set up file. Hardly takes 15 mins to download, uninstall old version, install new and update libraries.

I think if your TV is 1080p then the video coming from your laptop via the AVR will get upscaled automatically to the native resolution (1080p) of your TV. If not you can manually set this up on your TV for the specific HDMI input.

my tv is supporting 1080p. but it is showing 768p if I connect avr. need to know is there any setting on xbmc to send source connect resolution.

After trying all players,I think JRIVER is best for movies/Bitstreaming.
For music foobar.
Other I liked are Potplayer> MPCHC.
I do not prefer XMBC.
