Fans of Soundgarden and Audioslave will like this one. This set was in a small intimate venue with Cornell rendering Soundgarden and Temple of the Dog numbers as well as covers of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean", Bob Marley's "Redemption Song" and Elvis Costello's "Peace Love and Understanding". All songs are pure vocals accompanied only by acoustic guitar. And it's free!

Chris Cornell's live performance in Sweden from 2006 is available for free here:

Format is mp3 but the content is top draw.

They seem to have an Ogg Vorbis file also. I've never tried that before though I have used Flac whenever it's available.

Have you downloaded any other worthy files from archive.org ?
Thanks for posting the link.

The website has other formats but the underlying source is lossy mp3.

The OGG file format has been around for some time but has not really taken off.
I think it was introduced as a pro standard format but did not make it in the consumer market.

Thanks. I'm aware of the Ogg Vorbis format. Just never tried it.

How about known good music downloads from archive.org ? :)

Sorry did not see the replies to this thread earlier.
I really don't know much about archive.org - it just happened to be the repository site for this particular album.

Wow, thanks.
Will download this from home!

If you are a Soundgarden/Audioslave fan - you will really like this album.

Thanks for sharing!

Going down memory lane, one of the best acoustic songs by Chris Cornell is Seasons. It was released in a motion picture soundtrack for a forgettable movie called Singles. I think he realized how good that song was - and later resurrected it after a couple of decades in his acoustic album. Interestingly, this song resurfaced yet again in another movie, the more recent Man Of Steel.

However, this soundtrack album arguably has the best collection of grunge songs from the Seattle music scene in the late 80s and early 90s. This was also when grunge was only beginning to take off and didn't have the popularity that it acquired later in the 90s.

That album has many other gems too, by the way. Such as Chloe Dancer / Crown of Thorns by Mother Love Bone.

Update on this set from CA:

The recording was done at 24 bits/48khz mixed down to 16 bits/44,1khz. The original material belongs to Sony Sweden who had commissioned the event. Apparently at one point in time Sony talked about a possible release but it never came to be. Probably because Cornell was starting out solo (which wasn't known at that time).

Among other things that I came to know from all this is that Cornell is pretty active with Hollywood sound tracks. His work can be heard on movies like "Collateral", "Man of Steel" and "Casino Royale".
