I know nothing about Hi-fi. Just came across this forum 15 days ago and since then following it.

I live in a tier III city having just Ahuja showroom.
My need is a stereo setup for an small room. setup should be VFM and long lasting, as repairs may not be possible in my city.

Input is to be from Mobile, computer and may be TV.
Main focus area is not of Bass, 70-80's Bollywood songs with rock music. Clear vocals are priority.

Before following this forum I thought of 10-15k budget, but now I understand its nothing, I can increase it to 25-35K max.

So, kindly suggest what one can get it in my budget. loudness and bass is not priority. I have thought to add entry level used devices which are offered here by members in future.

Edifier has some decent active bookshelves in that price range (as well as lower). Most take digital as well as analog inputs. Easily available on Amazon with sufficient user reviews. Have a look at R2000DB studio monitor of theirs.

As you want connectivity from Mobile (BT mode), from PC (usb mode) and from Tv (hdmi or optical) there can be two options. Essentially what you are looking for is a 2 channel stereo set up.

1. Bookshelf active speakers like Edifier etc that has all connectivity options that means it is a speaker set with built in Dac and class D amplifier. This will be by far the most cheapest options and will come in budget of 25-30K easily. Mostly these speakers also have a sub out option in case u want to attach an active subwoofer at a later date. Just check for the connectivity options (Modes) that are mentioned in the start of my reply.

2. This might go slight above your budget range or maybe within budget. A class D amplifier like Aiyima, Fosi audio etc and a pair of passive bookshelf speakers(Budget oriented). The amp essentially should have all connectivity options(modes) that u are looking for so in other words a combination of built in Dac and Amp. Usually the amps also have sub out in case you want to attach an active subwoofer at a later date. The entry level bookshelf speakers like Mission, Fyne audio available online at hifimart will do the job. The Aiyima & Fosi audio range of amplifiers is available at amazon.

You can also opt for Indian made amplifiers and speakers if available near your location. This can be a very budget friendly options for you below 20K. Somehow I will not recommend it as the quality is not that good in Indian products. There are upcoming brands in India Doogesound (soundking) based at Mumbai who make budget friendly equipment's and speakers but in case of repairs it can be problem for you.

Generally nothing happen to amplifier and speakers for long-long time if used properly so go as per the instruction manual/owners manual that comes with the product.

Insofar as passive offerings are concerned, have a look at the Aiyima T9 Pro (Amplifier) paired with Mission LX-2 Mk-II (Speaker).

The Aiyima T9 has excellent connectivity and features (Bluetooth, Optical-in, USB-in, Coaxial-in, Sub-Out, Tone Controls) but more importantly, sounds great.

The Mission LX-2 mk-2 is a very capable speaker for its price. However, if you extend a bit further and go for something like the Mission QX-2, you'll have a heirloom piece on your hands.

Insofar as my collection is concerned, I don't want to name specific brands but suffice to say that the Mission QX-2's build quality has held up far better than some other offerings from well-known brands which cost more than twice as much. In my experience, only speakers which cost more than >1L can hold a candle to the QX-2 w.r.t build quality (apart from the Mission SX-2 which is another speaker with fantastic build quality but not a current gen model).

+1 to this suggestion. Another option could be the DALI Spektor 2, which is available new for around ₹28,000 (got mine from avstore at 28k). You might also consider used Class D amplifiers from brands like Aiyima, Fosi, or SMSL. While I haven't personally owned any Aiyima or Fosi products and can't comment on their performance, I can confirm that Topping and SMSL amps pair very well with DALI speakers.

Repairing Soundking amp is easier anywhere in India as their spare parts are readily available, I wont recommend any Class D as they are virtually non-repairable black box product.
+ It also has USB/ BT connectivity and are economically priced. paired with Doogesound speakers, total budget should come under 18K. They are probably rebadged Chinese products when compared to Norge., a bit premiumly priced Make in India brand
Soundking workshop is located in my city . No brand affiliations.

You have valid points. Even I have used Norge Amp and still own one but never owned a doogesound product. As such nothing happens to the Amp and speakers as there are practically no moving parts inside and this I am speaking from personal experience of 35+ years. In india we have varied usage conditions ranging from decent to sheer misuse to using badly so many a times amps and speakers give away due to misuse/abuse. At that point repairing an Indian amp and speaker is possible at a "reasonable/pocket friendly" cost contrary to the imported ones. There is a big lack of awareness among majority which is fueled by wrong guidance from the you tubers to "abuse" the components at almost full vol (more then amp clipping) & at full bass and treble.

Yes I am aware that class D amps are not repairable as the full board is replaced in event of failure.

The attachment of the doogesound product review by Abhi's Avtech is already seen by me. In fact I follow him on you tube and never miss his videos. There are very few Indian you tubers who do genuine and honest reviews and he is one of the best among them. It is sad that in India the good, genuine & honest reviews are valued only by minority (not much likes and high subscription).

Focals have clear vocals

I can remember my condition years ago as I have gone through your thread. I am not one with deep pocket yet I wanted to have a decent system. I could not buy a brand new product for budget constraints so I waited . I used to follow the for sale section in our forum almost regularly. Then oneday I found my speakers and subsequently my amp. Yes, I took the pre-owned gear route and bought two main things of my system. Fortunately I got the amp in pristine condition at a cheaper rate . So I would like to request you to wait , keep watching the advertisements selling preloved gears in our forum and then buy whatever you want to have. Speakers and amps come with different price tags and all of them have both pros and cons. So decide what speakers you like and what amp is suitable for your speakers. As a thumb rule get speakers first then decide on what amp is necessary. If you see that your present budget doesn't allow you to have a decent system right now then wait , save more and then buy.
Regards
