Hello Friends,

need some help from experts..

I am trying to play (through USB) a downloaded movie which is BDRip (1080p) on Philips BDP 2190 it says "Unknown Video Format" where the file is MP4. I can here the full surround sound from the speakers but no video on LED..

I have many movies whos resolution are less the 1920x1080p & they plays perfectly on the same player.

Current setup - Panasonic TH-50C300DX LED, Pioneer VSX 524k & Philips BDP 2190
Any quick help on this issue..

Thanks,
Sachin.

Sorry, here are more information on the VDO, format, resolution etc.

While playing the VDO, it says.. "Unsupported Video Format"
Movie is Batman v Superman EXTENDED 1080 & the file extension is .MKV
Resolution - 1920x800
Aspect ratio - 2.4
Format - HEVC

I am able to play this movie on my laptop through SM player.

Was googling this issue & found my Philips BDP doesn't support HEVC (h.265).. highest it supports is h.264.. this is the issue..

Ahhhh.. will have to download the movie again.. got the original Blu Ray rip through torrent.. pain in the ass!!

I have the same philips model and faced the same problem trying to play HVEC torrent of Elementary S4. converted the the files with any video convertor to MP4 format with same resolution. it is playing now.
instead of downloading again you can try to convert to MP4 or MKV of h.264

None of the bluplayers available in India as of now support the HEVC format (HEVC or H.265 encoding) So while downloading Hi Def movie files, search for just h264 files. ( Files containin name h264). HEVC being the latest format for UHD and 4K players is not available on current bluray or media players. However Amkette s EVO TV2 supports HEVC playback.
Hope it helps
