I have to agree they are incompetent in shipping times. They need to be able to give more specific delivery times or get a good hookup in customs dept so that they can deliver goods on time. Shouldnt be that hard considering they must have volume. They need to give more specific delivery times why claim something they cannot honor.

But they are not fraud i think your oppo will arrive then all doubts can to be put to rest.

It has been a roller coaster ride, literally. Yes we have goofed up one of our consignment with incorrect paper work. We are embarrassed to have a small number of customers wait for longer than the promised delivery time. It pains to see such customer reviews as much as the joy in seeing you guys positive about 20North a few months back. It also feels extremely warm to have received the support from a few of you even after reading these reviews. We are simple human beings and every individual employed with 20North is working overtime to ensure the engine keeps running. I am sure each and everyone of you does understand how government offices work in India. Importing goods into India is extremely sensitive, even a simple mistake is considered as a huge offense. We chose to go by a route holding on to the customs law manual in order to protect our long term interest. We are going through a series of steps and there is light visible at the end of the tunnel. We have also made sure the mistake we had made is fixed in a generic sense and the results have been fruitful with our orders post the stuck shipment fulfilled. We have offered discounts as well as gift coupons which leave us in no position to make any gain on the orders that were delayed. We have also offered a cancellation for a full refund. This delay in fulfilling orders has hurt us both monetarily as well as in reputation and is definitely not in the best interest of 20North. Our vision is to make this complex service of international shopping as simple as walking down your road to buy vegetables. There has been a huge amount of time, money and energy gone into this business and we are committed to make international shopping seamless. We are confident that in a couple of weeks we will have the excitement of shopping in the USA back in this forum.

It seems your Company hired a copywriter to draft your letters of apologies and excuses in bulk.
Now you keep recycling them with every delivery date you miss. My personal favourites
are " Custom authorities are like ocean tides, cannot be hurried" "Your shipment has been in
bureaucratic hell bouncing
"

One suggestion . Please put all these excuse emails on an auto responder
( that is if you have already not done that ). It will save some time for your army of employees
which according to you has been working overtime to keep the engine running.

You cannot be absolved for such never ending delays by saying that you are simple humans
( and perhaps to err is human ) and then passing on the blame to the Govt. offices and bureaucracy .
Don't all we Indians love doing that. In fact you could also try putting the blame on "Foreign Hand "

If you cannot stand the heat, you are requested to step out of the kitchen. You are a company ( a group
of professionals I suppose ) whom we customers are paying to get the job done. Moreover if you are so aware
of these issues and causes of delay then why do you mislead the customers by promising them false
deadlines. Even customers are considerate. You miss the deadline once and push it further by 2 weeks,
we forgive you. You do it again, we forgive you. But four times in a row. Even we are simple humans and
don't have the proverbial patience of Job ( by the way, here I am not referring to Steve Jobs of Ipod, but
the Biblical Character )

Finally, perhaps yours is a legitimate company ( not a scam ) and you do deliver products.
But just like justice delayed is justice denied, so is product delayed. What am I suppose to do if you
deliver my product after many months ( or years ) when I no more need it or have learnt to live without it.

Do you realize that the professional microphone I had ordered was for an urgent business assignment
and not for leisure ( or to put in my pyjamas, like some of you have pointed out ).

Hope you tighten up the nuts and bolts of your company before it completely falls apart.

I wanted to post an update for everyone. As I mentioned in my last review that I had to cancel my order placed at 20North after the delivery delays and ask for a refund. Let me inform you, that 20North has issued a full refund to me. Not just that, upon reordering, 20North has now even delivered my order ( that too with 15% Discount + Duty Free ). After getting my full refund from the cancelled order my fear of being scammed was allayed. Moreover after being reassured by 20North Team for a better service ( in response to my review posted on various forums ) I decided to give one more shot to 20North . I made a pre-order enquiry from 20North about the possibility of using Duty Free option and also about claiming the 15% Discount (as promised compensation for delay in previous order ). 20North gladly agreed to offering me both these discounts ( courtesy Suraj from 20North Support ). This greatly reduced the cost of my Order . In short, I could not have bargained for a better deal anywhere. My only apprehension was if 20North will be able to deliver these items in 20 days of the promised time ( Once bitten twice shy kind of feeling )

I reordered on 16th Sep, 2009 and this time got all 4 items delivered to me after just 12 days. Let me add here that all items very packed very nicely and thus delivered very safely ( without any damage in the transit ).

Really satisfied with 20North's service this time. Surely I would be using their services again in future. It will be a delight for an Indian Shopper like me to shop at 20North , as long as they maintain this high standard of service. My best wishes are with them .

actually even before Mr Khan's email I was quite averse of buying from such a site. Mr Khan, Adil says a full refund is offered? Pls make full use of it.

I ordered for a DAC from HK. It left HK on 17 aug and reached me on my office desk on 24th. But since it was a low value and small physical value, may be it was spared the hell.

There is another company that delivers in India - I am not sure if you are aware of it - B&H Photo Video | Digital Cameras, Camcorders This one could be better in delivering your stuff in India. Though I haven't ordered anything from them.

I had good experience with BHPhotovideo, while I was in USA. But their shipping charges for India are more than actual product cost. So ordering from them only make sense if product is not available in India.
 
They had an India sales desk based out of Pune. You mail them on [email protected] with the product number and name (for example, for this product: Jamo | C 603 Bookshelf Speaker (Black Ash, Pair) | 86511 | B&H, the number is B&H# JAC603BA) and they would send you a discounted quote including estimated customs charges.

I havent tried it in the last few months so dont know if they still do this. Had bought some camera equipment through them last year.
 
Their speaker stands on page 2 of the search are quite cheap compared to whats available in India .

Actually at the beginning of last year I was desperate to buy a pro quality digital stereo recorder and was doing a desperate search on the net and found what you have written above. I then called and sent an e-mail with my query and got an immediate reply. If they are anything close to this speed in actual delivery of ordered stuff, it would be great.

Landed Cost Approx: INR 23,500.00 (includes customs duty and clearing
charges)

I did not buy through them because later that year I went to US and could buy directly there (through mail order from buydig.com). I did not end up saving any money :D, because there I bought actually a better product with MRP more than USD 500 at around the same INR prices (23K).

P.S. I beleive, You should thank Mr. Khan. He stirred up the nest quite a bit, which made their Doggly-Doos moving.
 
I recd. my Oppo BDP 83 today. This proves that this company is not an online scam as told to us by Mr. Khan, but since the player was checked by the customs guys so the box seal was broken and was repacked with a cello tape and player was kept upside down, also the box was little soiled at the top most probably with water but thank God and due to a good packing the player survived this long and rough journey.
In my case I recd. it in 36 days and thats pretty reasonable as I chose ocean shipping to save the cost. My suggestion is that anybody ordering any bulky stuff should choose ocean shipping which would save a lot of money.
For 20north, they could have delivered this product to me 2 weeks back as the same was with the customs for that much time, so they need to tighten up their screws and work more towards this direction.
I will post a detailed review of this product tomorrow along with all the pics..
Could anybody guide me with loading the pics onto this site.

Now when i got a receipt of payment to 20north and subsequently i logged into to check my account i was shocked to see that delivery is quoted as 40 days. :sad:

Lets c whn it will actually arrive
will update here accordingly
