Hi Friends,

After researching a lot on internet, I did some 4 or 5 rounds of watching Sony, LG, Samsung, etc., LED TVs at different shops in the past 1 month. The Sony and Samsung LED TVs are very bright and attractive. Why are the LG TVs look very dull? Is it the maximum brightness or contrast of LG which looks dull when compared to Sony or Samsung? (FYI, I went twice to Croma store Anna Nagar, Chennai.)

In terms of IPS Panel, Panasonic too has IPS Panel. Do you still think LG is superior than Panasonic? What do you think or heard about LG Customer Service? Is LG better than Sony or Samsung??

I am really very confused :-( Planning to buy 32" LED TV with very good picture quality and high refresh rate. I don't want 3D TV. But, I think the SMART options will be useful in the recent future, if not now.

Thanks,
Mani

In my opinion for 32 inch either go for HD-Ready(1366x768) panel LCD or LED tv (whatever you like) TV of which ever brand you like

I personally feel (for your requirements) that for LCD go for Toshiba , Sony
For LED go for Sony , Samsung , LG

Black levels in Sony are overall better than Samsung in this category except EH4000 where its almost same.

LG has IPS panels which have a great viewing angels and its brighter than the two (not much though) but the black levels here are not too good as compared to Sony , Samsung

LG and Panasonic has IPS panels . Looks are almost the same. My suggestion would be better go for Sony , Samsung & Toshiba for this category

I am not sure if Panasonic has IPS panels in all models.

If you look at 2012 models on their website, all their LCD tv's in C & U series are having VA/TN panel; excepts L32C53D & L32C55D which have IPS. Also, some of their LED TV's are VA panel. To be honest, when I compared the VA model with IPS one in the showroom, I liked the picture quality of VA - good contrast level compared to IPS.

If you are going for LCD, my suggestion will be go for Sony CX420/BX420. Otherwise go for Panasonic L32C55D. With Sony you will get extended warranty for 2 years by paying 2K more.

Rightly said frosts and sij, IPS has very good viewing angles but poor contrast and black levels compared to VA. So think what matters to you more - great contrast and low black levels or wide viewing angles.

If someone watches TV from an angle greater than 45 to the centre perpendicular then they will suffer from bad viewing experience, even if the TV is plasma with little or no viewing angle problem. TV must be watched within 60-70 angle of view.

Having said that the typical arrangement of a wall mounted large screen flat panel is:

- TV on wall
- large sofa directly in front
- small sofas, love seats, relaxing la-z-boy type chair at the sides, 90 to the main sofa

One should ensure that the viewing is good from all angles. This will especially matter in case of larger families.

Having said that, why can't we discuss this in one thread? I believe that we do have a thread open on the same subject.
